Established in 1987, NEIGRIHMS is a post-graduate institute like AIIMS, New Delhi, and PGIMER, Chandigarh. It was the first postgraduate medical institution in the Northeast region and the third in the country to be established by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. It was incorporated as a society by the Registrar of Societies, Meghalaya, Shillong on 12 January 1987 as follows: 

"North East Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences".

NEIRIHMS Admission 2023 

NEIRIHMS Shillong offers admission to UG and PG courses in Medicine and Nursing. Admission to all courses is based on marks/merit obtained in each entrance examination. Candidates can apply online for NEIGRHMS admission. 

How to apply for NEIGRHMS admission 

Candidates can apply for admission to NEIGRHMS by following the steps  below: 

1 Visit the official website - neigrihms.gov.in. 

2 Register and log in to apply for the course you want. 

3 Fill out the application and attach the necessary documents. Applicants submit and pay. 

4 Candidates are advised to take a printout of the application for future use. 

5 The institute publishes the biographies of the candidates. 

6 Selected candidates must submit documents for verification. 

7 Eligible candidates can pay the required fee for the allotted seat. 

NEIGIHMS Placements 

NEIRIHMS offers internship opportunities to students in reputed medical colleges. Students are offered a paid internship at the institute itself. Internships are offered with a stipend of INR 23,000. NEIGRHMS does not offer internship opportunities. However, students can apply to various hospitals after obtaining their degree. Students can also communicate with alumni and faculty about job opportunities.
