National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT), (erstwhile DOEACC Society), an Autonomous Scientific Society under the administrative control of the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MoE&IT), Government of India, was set up to carry out Human Resource Development and related activities in the area of Information, Electronics & Communications Technology (ICT).

NIELIT is engaged both in Formal & Non-Formal Education in the area of IECT besides the development of industry-oriented quality education and training programs in state-of-the-art areas. NIELIT has endeavored to establish standards to be the country’s premier institution for Examination and Certification in the field of IECT. It is also one of the National Examination Body, which accredits institutes/organizations for conducting courses in IT in the non-formal sector.

NIELIT is also successfully executing the Agriculture Census and Input Survey project under which tabulation of about 10 crore data records has to be done. NIELIT has planned a roadmap for adopting appropriate pedagogy for metamorphosing NIELIT into an Institute of National Importance.

Facilities and Infrastructure

Residential Accommodations:

There are separate hostels for B.Tech, M.Tech, and Industrial processional or Research Scholars around 250+ students reside in the campus DEPM, B.Tech and M.Tech programs being partly residential. Hostels are located in the quieter part of the campus with proximity to the mess and cafeteria and a medical center that functions round the clock.

Library:

The rich library caters to the information needs of the students, researchers, and scientists with its well-managed information resources housed on two floors spread over an area of 331 sq.Mar. The library has a huge collection of books, reference books, periodicals, and electronic resources. The mission is to facilitate the creation of new knowledge through the acquisition, organization, and dissemination of knowledge resources.

Sports Facilities:

NIELIT has always been supportive of sports and fitness as it helps in maintaining a healthy mind and body. Students must be allowed to choose the sport of their liking and capability and must be given an equal chance to excel in it. Keeping this in mind, ample facilities have been provided to the students for practicing and attaining professionalism in their respective games. NIELIT has its own indoor and Outdoor grounds and additional sport facility may be subtilized on request from the Sports Authority of India (SAI) Aurangabad.

Admission Process

The National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology Aurangabad is an AICTE-approved government institute. It offers three courses across three streams, namely, B.Tech, M.Tech, and Ph.D. There is also a provision for lateral entry to B.Tech.

For admission to B.Tech, a candidate should have passed 10+2 in the Science stream with 45% marks. For selection, the candidate must take the JEE Main. For lateral candidates, a three-year diploma in Electronics and allied streams is required. Selection is based on merit.

For admission to M.Tech, a candidate requires a B.Tech degree in the relevant discipline. Selection is based on performance in the GATE.

Candidates with an M.Tech degree and 55% marks are eligible to apply for a Ph.D. course at NIELIT Aurangabad. Final selections will be made based on merit.

Placements

Students of the Centre are trained to become R&D engineers. In the Course curriculum, there is an emphasis on Innovation, Design, and Development of Electronic Product. The Centre has also signed an MoU with the Chamber of Marathwada Industries and Agriculture (CMIA) to platform for Startup Aspirants students. In association with the Directorate of Employment, Ministry of Labour & Employment (MoLE), a Model Career Centre is also functioning to provide a variety of employment-related services. Apart from this, an independent Placement Cell is providing Placement support and assistance to all the students. Almost all the students of the Institute get career opportunities of their choice.
