The National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA), (Deemed to be University) established by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, is a premier organization dealing with capacity building and research in planning and management of education not only in India but also in South Asia. In recognition of the pioneering work done by the organization in the field of educational planning and administration, the Government of India have empowered it to award its own degrees by way of conferring it the status of Deemed to be University in August, 2006. Like any Central University, NIEPA is fully maintained by the Government of India.
The National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration, New Delhi was established in the year 1962 by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India as a UNESCO Regional Centre. The center was transformed into a University in the year 2006. NIEPA, New Delhi founded through the Government Of India along with UNESCO has experienced a number of changes since its creation. However, these changes have helped shape the institute into its current magnificence. Library
The library located at NIEPA is a state-of-technology library with a wide array of papers, journals, books as well as other documents. Furthermore, the library has fully functional WI-FI services and computers. The library utilizes its Libsys7 Software Package to catalog the documents it holds. In addition, the same software can also be used to circulate, acquire and keep track of new items as well as reservations at the library. At present, the library houses the following books: 43211, 8127 bound volumes Journals 221 online databases Journals, and a few other objects.
Hostel
It is located on campus. NIEPA hostel is situated on campus and is furnished to a high standard. It also provides basic amenities such as drinking water that is clean. Additionally, it is a seven-story structure with the capacity of as many as 52 rooms that can be used as double occupancy capable of accommodating 104 prisoners. Students also can choose from AC rooms as well as non-AC rooms. In addition, facilities for visitors as well as rooms for employees are available at the institution.

To be eligible for the Ph.D. program, applicants should have obtained at least 55% marks in their Master's degree in social sciences and related fields from a recognized university.
