Nirmala College for Women, Red Fields, Coimbatore, is a Catholic Institution of Higher Education for Women, instituted in 1948. It is under the direction of the religious society of the Franciscan Sisters of the Presentation of Mary founded by Rev. Fr. Joseph Louis Ravel in the year 1853. The College became autonomous in the year 2007. The Institution continues to be affiliated with Bharathiar University and is free to design its course of studies and adopt innovative teaching and evaluation strategies. University degrees are conferred on the students passing the examinations conducted by the College.

Library:

Housed in a modern and aesthetically well-designed multi-storeyed building, it evokes in one’s mind the colosseum at Rome of ancient times. The library offers a feast to the intellectual appetite to satiate young minds.

The library is the most frequented place in the college both by students and by the members of the staff. It houses 64232 Books, 150 Journals, and Magazines both National and International. It caters not only to the needs of Undergraduate and Postgraduate students but also to the requirements of research scholars. The library is fully computerized with a barcoding facility and the books are classified by Dewey decimal classification.

Classrooms:

Adequate Human resources are appointed exclusively for the maintenance and upkeep of campus infrastructure. All classrooms are well maintained. A maintenance supervisor and maintenance assistants like plumbers and electricians assist in the upkeep and preventive maintenance of the entire premises. This personnel is available 24*7 to monitor the maintenance activities.

Sports:

The sports room, gym, and playground are maintained by the support staff under the supervision of the physical director.

Lab Equipment:

The Stock registers and accession registers for equipment, chemicals, and glassware are updated annually by the staff in the science labs. Maintenance of equipment and glassware is done by the lab assistants after every practical. Maintenance of some equipment such as the microscope is outsourced.

Computer lab:

AMC exists for the maintenance and upkeep of all computers and internet facilities. All the electrical and electronic equipment are looked after by a team of electrical maintenance staff.

Sports:

Every student of the I and II-year degree class should undergo physical education prescribed by the college. General physical education classes are held twice a week. For all the sports and games events special coaching is offered by the college from 5:30 am to 9:00 am and 4:30 pm to 7:30 pm by special coaches of various athletic events and tournaments.
