National Institute Of Technology (NIT) Puducherry: Residential Accommodations

NIT Puducherry serves as a residential hub, providing lodging within its hostels for enrolled students. The institute currently houses over 800 students in its hostels, with a dedicated boy's hostel situated near the academic area. Additionally, NITPY has established a girl's hostel, offering comfortable accommodation within the educational vicinity. To ensure security, the hostels are under constant surveillance by private security personnel stationed around the clock. State security personnel conduct patrols during the night. Each hostel is overseen by separate wardens to maintain discipline, emphasizing cleanliness and hygiene in all aspects.

Library Facilities 

The Central Library at NIT Puducherry, operational since 2010, fosters an enriching learning environment conducive to study and exploration on all working days. Continuously evolving, the library caters to the growing information needs of its users, boasting an excellent reading room with adequate ventilation and natural light. Curated with a diverse collection, the library offers a spectrum of resources including books, journals, magazines, newspapers, and more. It is equipped with Wi-Fi and LAN facilities, providing unrestricted high-speed internet access. The library ensures ample copies of textbooks and reference materials aligned with the offered courses.

Medical Facilities 

Situated within the campus, the Institute Health Centre at NITPY is a registered clinical establishment under Section 15 of The Clinical Establishments (Registration and Regulation) Act, 2010.  Staffed with one Medical Officer, two Nurses, and two ambulance drivers, the health center extends primary healthcare services to students, faculty, staff, and their families.  It offers bed facilities for observation and provides 24x7 ambulance services for medical emergencies, including facilities for Covid-19 Rapid Antigen Testing.

Sports Facilities

NIT Puducherry Recognizing the integral role of sports in holistic development, NIT Puducherry encourages physical, emotional, and social well-being among its students through sports activities.  The institute currently houses basketball and indoor badminton courts. Additionally, students have access to a gym equipped with multifaceted fitness amenities. To further enhance sporting facilities, NIT Puducherry is developing modern sports arenas spanning 68,083 square meters. These facilities will encompass tennis courts, football and hockey fields, a handball ground, Kho-Kho and Kabaddi courts, and an athletic area featuring a 400 square-meter artificial track.  Plans also include an indoor sports complex and a stadium covering 3958 square meters, complete with wooden flooring and dormitories for players and officials during events.
