National Institute of Technology Srinagar (NIT Srinagar or NITSRI) is a public technical institute. It is one of the 31 National Institutes of Technology (NIT) and as such, it is immediately under the manipulation of the Ministry of Education (MoE). The campus was founded in 1960 as one of the numerous Regional Engineering Colleges set up as a part of the Second Five Year Plan (1956–61) through the Government of India.

Facilities and Infrastructure

Residential Accommodations:

The campus affords separate hostels for male and female college students with separate mess facilities. There are 8 hostels available. There is a Common Hall, adjoining to the hostels, which affords facilities for indoor games like table-tennis and carom, alongside a fitness center pc room, studying room, separate wardens region and defend room. Each room is shared by college students.

Library: 

The Library is automatic and offers seven days a week, targeting more than 3,500 customers from twelve departments and centers. The library homes 80,000 books. The library helps with Teaching, Research & and different associated programs of the Institute.

Labs: 

Central Workshop is a crucial facility well equipped with current modern devices to offer hands-on instruments and the idea and publicizing simple and increased production and field-saving strategies to scholars of all engineering disciplines. 

Medical Facilities:

The health facilities are well equipped with all of the basic clinical facilities and are 24*7 with referral and ambulance services. The health center from the very starting has been offering great health care via OPD consultation, loose medicines, lab investigations, radiological investigations (X-Ray), ECG, nursing care, hospitalizations, referrals & counseling services. The Medical Staff is actively concerned with supporting the students, staff, and dependents via complete health care; ex. prevention of illnesses through focus programs, healing, and promotive health services.

Sports Facilities:

The campus motto is “Sports for all and eager about Sports” and the challenge is “Fit students- Fit Nation”. To obtain this, Institute constantly inspires the scholars to participate in games & sports activities to hold themselves healthy and inculcate a spirit of sportsmanship among themselves. Also, inspire the scholars to participate in Inter-NIT and different open competitions withinside the country. The campus offers indoor or outdoor sports facilities.

Admission to this program is offered on the basis of JEE Main score and JoSAA counseling.
