NMKRV College for Women, Jayanagar, Bengaluru is administered by the Rashtreeya Sikshan Samiti Trust. It started in 1971 as a pre-college college with 150 students. In 1973 it was renamed the NMKRV Degree College for Women. Since then, the college has grown in strength and prestige and is now recognized as one of the premier women's colleges in the state.NMKRV was granted autonomous status in 2006, and in 2010 it was designated a "College with Potential for Excellence" by UGC. NAAC has accredited the college with an “A” grade (3.22 CGPA) and is currently preparing for its fourth round of accreditation. In addition, in 2016 the university was selected by the DST as part of the FIST program for category “O” support. The university received 1.35 kr for the modernization of educational and research facilities in all scientific faculties. In 2019, the university received 53 lakhs under the UGC STRIDE Capacity Building Program – Component 1 for Teachers and Students. The College is a participating facility of Unnath Bharath Abhiyan, an initiative by the MHRD to connect higher education institutions with rural India.
