Noorul Islam Centre for Higher Education – comprising of Noorul Islam College of Engineering as its constituent teaching unit has been declared as a Deemed-to-be-University by Ministry of Human Resource Development (Department of Higher Education), Government of India under section 3 of UGC Act, 1956, on the advice of UGC, vide Notification No.F.9-51/2004-U.3 dated 8th December 2008. The University is run by the Noorul Islam Center for Higher Education (NICHE) Society with Janab Dr. A.P. Majeed Khan as President of the Society, NICHE and the Chancellor of the University, NICHE. The University campus at Kumaracoil, Thuckalay in Kanyakumari District of Tamilnadu is in the serene and lush green base of Velimalai, a spectacular part of Western Ghat Hills near the historically famous Padmanabhapuram Palace. It is only 1.5 km interior towards the foothills of the mountains from Kumaracoil Junction on the Kanyakumari Thiruvanthapuram National Highway (NH-47)-about 30 km from Kanyakumari and 60 km from Trivandrum, the capital city of the state of Kerala.
Noorul Islam College of Engineering, the constituent teaching unit of Noorul Islam University was established in the year 1989-90, with the approval of All India Council for Technical Education and started offering two engineering courses, namely, B.E. in Computer Science and Engineering and B.E.In Electronics and Communication Engineering with forty college students in every course.
Noorul Islam College of Engineering, Kanyakumari courses are offered at various levels like Undergraduate Degree i.e Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) in Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering,Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) in Automobile Engineering,Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) CSE in Data Science etc.Postgraduate Degree i.e Master of Technology (M.Tech.) in Structural Engineering,Master of Science (M.Sc.) FIRE ENGINEERING LAB:
This lab provides an knowledge about different performance test about firefighting equipments,testing methods of different fire Extinguishers, testing requirements approximately extinguishing agent (DCP and foam), additionally research the features of various automated hearthplace suppression systems.
FIRE SAFETY TRAINING LAB:
This lab provides an excellent exposure about firefighting skills, Rescue Techniques And impart ability approximately the way to use numerous firefighting equipment’s via actual time scenario. In addition with firefighting training provided through the Industry experts.
SAFETY ENGINEERING LAB:
The main objective of this lab is providing an exposure about preparation of different safety document, Knowledge about Safety Audit, Safety Inspection, Risk assessment Procedure, Confined space requirements, LOTO, Work permit system for different workplace and other important documentation necessary for the safety Professional.
Major Instruments available in the Nano-characterization facility for a total amount of 148.12 lakhs • XRD- D2 Phaser • Atomic Force Microscope • Electro Chemical Work Station • Particle Size Analyser • FTIR • TG-DTA • Ultra-Pure Water • UV-Vis Spectrophotometer • Surface Area Analyzer • UPS for AFM.
Necessary guidance is also provided for higher studies not only in India but also in foreign countries. The cell provides books for competitive exams such as CAT, MAT, TOFEL, IES and GATE including Soft Skill Development & General Knowledge for the benefit of the students to better their Career Prospects. The University has initiated a series of training programmes for the final and pre-final year students on how to write aptitude tests, face interviews, win jobs and be successful in their career.
