North Eastern Regional Institute of Science & Technology (NERIST) is located at Nirjuli, Itanagar. The motto of the Institute, The Confluence, the region of Eight States, shows the unwavering determination for this Institute in its mission to train not just its own state, but the states that surround it. While the Institute was once a prominent institution but is not as because of the expansion of many new colleges and universities. The foundation stone of NERIST was laid by 7th President India, Giani Zail Singh in 1984. Before this, a group composed of faculty members from IIM A created a report that was submitted for approval by the North Eastern Council.

Sports

The Institute includes courts for basketball, badminton court court and a cricket and football field close by.
