North Gauhati College, established in year 1962, is one of the oldest general degree colleges situated in Guwahati, Assam. This college is affiliated with the Gauhati University. The College was then one and only higher educational institute of entire Northern part of the Kamrup rural district.North Guwahati is situated on the northern bank of the river Brahmaputra just opposite to the city of Guwahati. This ancient capital town of ancient rulers of Kamrup also enjoys the priviedge of being the birth place of some erudite scholars of Assam like Anundoram Barooah, Karambeer Nabin Chandra Bordoloi, Bolinarayan Borah, Col. Shivram Borah, Lakshiram Baruah and many others. Also known as the temple town of Assam it houses important sites of pilgrimage such as Ashwakranta, Dirgheswari, Manikarneswar, Rudreswar devalaya, Doul Govinda Mandir, Auniati Satra etc.

NGC  Library

The North Gauhati College Library is rapidly growing up to be one of the leading regional level academic libraries in the north bank of Brahmaputra. The library was established way back in 1962. There are separate reading rooms for students and teachers. The documents in the library are well arranged. The library is well equipped with a good number of text books, reference materials, xerox facilities, internet with fully open access facilities automated with the help of library oriented software SOUL 2.08 (software for university library) network version. All bibliographic details of books, journals and CDROM databases are accessible through the computer. It has a good number of journals (National and International) and magazines. Besides these, the different national and local newspapers (daily and weekly) are available to the user community. North Gauhati College library adequately caters to the needs of the students and teaching community. It offers an environment conducive to learning and for intellectual enquiry by providing user focused services to obtain and access scholarly information and knowledge. The library remains open from 10 am to 4 pm on all working days. It offers essential and specialized information, resources and services to meet the growing information needs by.

Admission Procedure

The Academic session starts in accordance with the directions received from H.S. Council and the Gauhati University. All form fill-ups will be done only online mode and applications for admission will be available in the college website. Admissions will be strictly on the basis of merit, and is governed by the rules framed by the college authority. The decisions of the Admission Committee regarding admission are final. Any pressure or interference from any quarter for admission of a particular student will result in forfeiture of the claim. All admissions are provisional and subject to the approval of the AHSEC/G.U. The college will not be responsible if AHSEC/GU does not approve of the admission of any student on the ground of lack of migration certificate, eligibility criteria, or for furnishing wrong or false documents. Candidates are required to produce ORIGINAL documents along with one set of Photostat copy (date and time to be notified in the college website). The list of required documents is given below:
