North Lakhimpur College is an independent college affiliated to Dibrugarh University in North Lakhimpur on the north bank of the Brahmaputra River in the Upper Assam region. North Lakhimpur College is the first independent college in Assam. The college was established in 1952. 

Accreditation and ranking 

North Lakhimpur College is affiliated to Dibrugarh University. The college is accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). 

Courses available 

North Lakhimpur College offers programs at various levels such as Under Graduate Degree i.e. BA (BA) in Philosophy, BA (BA) in Home Science, BA (B.Sc.) in Mathematics, etc., Post Graduate Degree i.e Master. of Arts (MA) in Journalism and Mass Communication, Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Application (PGDCA), etc., and others. Hostel 

The college has two hostels for girls and two for boys. Places are allotted on merit-based admission basis. Students applying for hostel accommodation must fill  a separate  admission form which must be sent to the principal within the prescribed time. There are 226 places in the girls' hostel  and 114 places in the boys' hostel. 

Computer center 

The college has well-equipped computer centers.  

1. A computer lab with 30 terminals including an IBM server was set up with the help of grants from NEC Shillong. 

2. Another computer center with 9 computers and an IBM server in 2009 with  financial support from DST as part of the FIST program. The laboratory is now under the control of the Mathematics Department. 

3. The computer lab works with 15 terminals supported by the Community  College System. 

4. With the financial support of UGCC, the creation of a new network center will begin in 2010 under the XI Plan. Students and teachers can use the laboratories whenever needed. Access is provided by presenting ID cards in the Computer Center. The above network is connected to BSNL Broadband Internet.
