Patriarch Ignatius Zakka-Ist Training College is one of five colleges administered by the Malankara Jacobite Syrian Christian Educational Trust, Malecruz. The college started operations in 1996. The college has 24 years of experience in teacher education. This college is named after His Holiness Ignatius Zakki I Iwas, Prince Patriarch of Antioch and head of the Syrian Orthodox Church. The college's name is the symbol of the Universal Brotherhood. The school is located near Choondy Junction (about 30 km east of Kochi and 5 km south of Kolenchery on the Madhurai-Kochi National Road) in Puthencruz. The natural splendor of the area has been carefully preserved to enable academic development in harmony with nature.
