Payyanur College, Payyanur is one of the premier institutions of higher learning in Malabar, North Kerala. Currently affiliated with Kannur University, and re-accredited by the NAAC with a ‘B+’ grade in 2018, this postgraduate college caters to the higher education needs of over 1800 students, most of whom hail from the economically-weak families of the rural areas around Payyanur. The college offers undergraduate courses in 14 disciplines, postgraduate courses in four, and PhD Programmes in three. The establishment of the college in the village area of Edat in 1965 led to the materialization of the higher educational dreams of thousands of youngsters during the past five decades. The college holds an enviably-high performance record in curricular and co-curricular activities.

Library:

In the present era of the knowledge revolution, the relevance of a college library is ever-increasing. Responding positively to the newly-defined roles of a college library in the present scenario, Payyanur College Library has taken measures to make the latest items of knowledge accessible to the academic community. The College Library became functional on 02.08.1965, the same year in which the college was established. In the beginning, the library was housed in a small room in the Main Block and there were only 332 books, two dailies, and their weeklies in the library. Now it has a collection of 45000 books,89 academic journals, 50 periodicals, including career magazines, and 10 newspapers. In addition, it has a collection of about 200 CD ROMS.

Computer Lab:

A fully equipped computer lab with 36 computers is set up in the college with financial aid from Sri. P. Karunakaran, Member of Parliament, under MPLAD Scheme. The systems are networked and have broadband connectivity with an unlimited download facility. Practical classes for computer papers for various courses are also held in the center.

Canteen:

A canteen which provides quality food at an affordable price is functioning in the college. Apart from breakfast and meals, the canteen also supplies appetizing snacks and refreshing beverages. Proper hygiene is maintained by the canteen staff. Moreover, the quality and the taste of the dishes are always monitored. Mid-Day Meal is also provided here. Staff and students are given comfortable seating facilities inside the canteen. The lush green outside enhances the appetite. The waste management system of the canteen is also strictly monitored.

Auditorium:

A fully-furnished 1000 seater auditorium is a proud possession of the college. All the major functions are conducted here. The spacious College auditorium has hosted a variety of fascinating events. The stage is set in such a manner that ensures visibility to everyone seated in the auditorium. It has a capacity to hold more than 600 people. The well-ventilated auditorium with multiple entrances provides a platform for students to exhibit their talents.

Gym:

Keeping in view the fitness aspects of the whole community of the college, a gymnasium is set up with financial assistance from UGC and College Management. Both Physical and Mental Health play an important role in the well-being of an Individual. In tune with the objective of the all-round development of the students, the Department of Physical Education is equipped with a multi-gym. The gym contains machines for exercise and workouts. In short, the gym provides an ideal atmosphere for the students to provide overall & sound development.

Faculty: 

Only those who have completed their Ph.D. in their respective subjects are the ones who teach in this college which means they are highly skilled and educated to teach a particular course. The teachers provide notes and lectures which are sufficient.

Placement: 

Placements or job opportunities as such aren't provided in our college and as such, we do not expect so. However, it is suggested that students go for higher studies after completion of their graduation. Or else, they have to opt for government jobs.
