Established in 1964, Girls Polytechnic, Bamunimaidan, Guwahati is a government-run tertiary technical college. of Assam under the Assam Technical Education Authority and is affiliated with the Assam State Technical Education Board. All courses are approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (A.I.C.TE), Department of Human Resources and Development, Government of India. It is the oldest technical institute for women in Northeast India and offers undergraduate programs in four different disciplines. For many years, the institute has played an important role in popularizing technical education among women. 

In 2004, the Girls Polytechnic was renamed Padmashree Chandra Prabha Saikiani Girls Polytechnic by the government. Assam. It is located in the heart of Guwahati city. It is well connected to both the train station (3 km) and the airport (28 km).In addition, Guwahati is the gateway to the north-eastern region of India and has good connections with all other sister states e.g. B. Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, and Tripura.Hostel for girls: The Institute has a girls' home on campus. The hostel is well equipped with the necessary furniture in each room. It also has a canteen that allows for a catering service for students.

PCPS Girls' Polytechnic offers Undergraduate Programs Diploma in Computer Engineering, Diploma in Architecture Engineering, and Diploma in Civil Engineering.
