The Pragjyotish College, Guwahati library was founded in 1954 by Pandit Tirtha Nath Sarma, the librarian-turned-principal, in a small room next to his office at Sonaram HS School containing only 150 books. The College Library was dedicated and named after Pandit Tirtha Nath Sarma, the main founder and renowned scholar. In 1963 the library operated in one room with a collection of 700 books. Continuing the development process, the library received its own building in 1991. At that time, the library collection included almost 35,000 volumes. The library currently has 60,300 books. From the beginning of its existence, the university library has endeavored to support students and teachers in the teaching-learning process as best as possible. Our library is very rich in newspapers and magazines. Now the library works intelligently thanks to RFID technology.
