Punjab Institute of Textile Technology, Amristar (PITT), one of the oldest and pioneer institutes of India was established in 1920 by the Punjab Government. It is working under the Directorate of Technical Education and Industrial Training (Technical Education Wing), Punjab and is affiliated to the Punjab State Board of Technical Education, Chanidgarh. PITT is situated in the holy city of Amritsar, on the G.T. Road, opposite Guru Nanak Dev University.

Punjab Institute of Textile Technology, Amristar (PITT), one of the most prestigious and pioneering institutes in India was established in 1920 by Punjab Government. It is part of the Directorate of Technical Education and Industrial Training (Technical Education Wing), Punjab and is connected to the Punjab State Board of Technical Education, Chandigarh. PITT is located within the city of holy Amritsar situated along the G.T. Road, opposite Guru Nanak Dev University. The school is situated located about 4-kilometers from Amritsar Railway Station and about six kilometers from the Amritsar Bus Stand, spread across an area of approximately 12.5 acres. Infrastructure

It is equipped with the necessary infrastructure in the form workshops for weaving, spinning mechanical and carpentry workshops as well as laboratories for quality and inspection Dyeing and printing Textile Designing and Computer Centre The Edusat Room, L.R.U.C room, Communication Lab. The institute is well-furnished with classrooms, as well as rooms for designing. Drawing and multipurpose classes. The weaving workshop is equipped with power looms, Jacquards and Dobbies, Winding Machines automated looms, an Dobbies Shuttleless Loom from Dornier. Similar to the handlooms in the section handlooms are fitted with Dobbies and Jacquards.

The Laboratories of Dyeing and Printing and Inspection and Quality Control are equipped with all the needed equipments and machinery to teach the necessary expertise and skills in the subject. In the course the student is sent off to industry to work on industry-based major and minor projects, as well as industrial training. Computer Facility Centre (CFC)

Admission

Admission to all three courses is granted solely on the merits of the test for joint entrance (JET) which is conducted by the Punjab State Board of Technical Education and Industrial Training, Sec. 36-a, Chandigarh.
