The Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology, named after the late Prime Minister Sri Rajiv Gandhi, started operations in 1991 under the auspices of the Government of Kerala. It built an extensive infrastructure and assembled a team of dedicated teachers. The institute has developed into one of the leading technical institutes in Kerala. 

The government established this institution with the aim of making it a postgraduate study and research center. The University is affiliated with APJ ABDUL KALAM TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY. As a haven of technology, RIT aims to provide quality education to talented students from all walks of life. Owned and administered by the Government of Kerala, it has a highly qualified and dedicated faculty. Infrastructure and Facilities:

Library:

The Central Library is housed in a two-story star-shaped building with a floor area of over 822 square meters. top It is fully computerized with functions such as online connections, reservation system, etc. The library has separate lending and bibliography departments with a wide range of all subject titles. The book banking department is also self-run under a separate state program for SC/ST students. Access to the library is available to all students and employees of this college during working hours. 

The periodicals department subscribes to the most important specialist periodicals and foreign periodicals. The Central Library has access to the electronic resources of the IEEE Xplore Digital Library (IEL Online Level 2), ASCE journals, ASME journals, Elsevier Science Direct journals, and the comprehensive Ebsco Art and Architecture database. The e-books 2030 are also available.Hostels::RIT has two women's shelters and one men's shelter with a capacity for 280 and 107 people respectively. In addition, RIT manages a P.G. Dorm on campus. The hostel admissions process follows the standards of the facility. The students wreak havoc in the dormitories under the supervision of the principal. Students and other activities in the residences are supervised by the tutor. 

College Buses: 

Seven buses run regularly. There are two buses to Kottayam town and two buses to Changanacherry (via Karukachal and via Njaliyakuzhy), one bus to Ettumanoor (via Kottayam), one bus to Pala and one bus to Kanjirappally. 

Canteen: 

The college has a staff and student canteen. It is located near three faculties and the studio building. The separate dining areas for employees and students, the ergonomic arrangement of the seats, and clean and hygienic food at affordable prices should be emphasized.

Cafeteria: 

There is a canteen for students, employees, and guests. It is located near the administration building. For this purpose, the PTA erected a building and a canteen. 

Auditorium: 

Miniaula is available near the workshop building for academic and non-academic college operations. 

Conference and seminar room: 

The conference room adjacent to the director's office is equipped with an overhead projector, slide projector, LCD projector, amplifiers, etc. Host conferences and short-term programs. In addition to the seminar rooms in the various faculties, the Counseling and Mediation department maintains a seminar room in the administration building.
