Kolhapur College of Agriculture was founded on June 30, 1963, in Kasaba Bawada, about four kilometers from Kolhapur Central Bus Station. 63 students were admitted to the first class. 1968, 1968, after the establishment of Maharashtra Agricultural University; The college was transferred to this college. Then, after the founding of Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth, Rahuri in 1969, the college was transferred as the Founding College of Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth, Rahuri, and became the regional headquarters of Kolhapur, Satara, and Sangli districts. Located on the old National Highway 4 Pune-Bangalore, the college has various well-appointed modular buildings.

Library: 

The library was located in the administration building from the beginning until 1997. After that, it was moved to a newly built, spacious building. In order to meet the library's growing need for a reading room, books, magazines, etc., a separate university library building was constructed in 1997. Then in 2009, a new building was added. The well-appointed building now serves students and staff. The library is a basic requirement of every teaching and research institution. As the college was originally affiliated with Shivaji University in Kolhapur; Texts on literature, languages, and social sciences were preferred according to the program planned for the different courses.
