Regional Institute of Education, Bhubaneswar one of the five such institutes in the country of NCERT, New Delhi has been providing academic and technical support to the states of Odisha, West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, Tripura and the Union Territory of Andaman & Nicobar Island for improvement of school education through pre-service and in-service programs. However, with the establishment of the North-East Regional Institute of Education (NERIE), Shillong in 2015, in-service programs as well as pre-service B.Ed. program for North-Eastern states has been shifted to NERIE.

The college has a boys’ hostel facility which provides good hostel accommodation for the students. All hostels have mess facilities for students. Two faculty members are posted as wardens in each hostel. Each hostel is provided with sports and games equipment and fields for badminton and lawn tennis, a TV hall, a music system, a medical kit, Aqua guards, a kitchen, a garden, a dining hall, and a stage for the cultural program.

The college has a girls’ hostel facility which provides good hostel accommodation for the students. All hostels have mess facilities for students. Two faculty members are posted as wardens in each hostel. Each hostel is provided with sports and games equipment and fields for badminton and lawn tennis, a TV hall, a music system, a medical kit, Aqua guards, a kitchen, a garden, a dining hall, and a stage for the cultural program Each hostel is having a security post in front of it and is provided with a security guard for twenty-four hours for the safety of the residents.

The Library is located centrally in the Institute's main building comprising one Stack room, Reading halls, Reference Section, Periodical Section, Technical Section, Circulation Counter, Browsing room (Computers) Reprography room, etc. It is easily accessible from all the departments. The Library functions from 9 A.M. to 7.30 P.M. on every working day and from 9.30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. Library Established in the year- 1963.

The library is fully automated using KOHA open-source library automation software. The Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) is provided for easy searching and retrieval of library documents. In-house publications of the Institute are being digitalized and uploaded in the Institutional Repository for online and easy access users. The Library is equipped with the software and hardware (JAWS Talking Screen Reader for the blind, Zoom Text Screen Magnifier/Reader for the partially blind, and Clear Reader + Basic Text Reading machine) to enable the use of the library by visually/ partial visual impaired students.

The college has a departmental based laboratories facility for the students namely Psychology Lab – The laboratory has a stock of approximately 138 psychological tests used as part of the course, supplement materials or tools to collect information for research and teaching-learning process for courses like DCGC, M.Ed, and M.Phil.and for various in-service teacher training programs. This lab is also used as a counseling cell for students.

The Institute has a health center on the campus. The health center is having two part-time doctors, two pharmacists, and one attendant. One room with two beds for patients, one dressing room, and one storeroom for medicines are available inside the health center. Some prescribed medicines are freely provided to the students, staff, and their family members. Apart from regular duties, the doctors also provide health care and treatment during the sports meet and examination period of the institute.

The college has a canteen, at an approachable place, a canteen is available. It caters to the needs of staff and students of DM School and institute. The canteen regularly provides good quality tea, coffee, cold drinks, snacks, lunch, etc. as per the requirement of the Institute on different programs, meetings, seminars, and conferences.

Admission

The College offers various courses as well as a one-year Diploma program in Guidance and Counselling. The duration of courses ranges from two-year courses of B.Ed and M.Ed to four-year-long courses of BA-B. Ed and B.Sc- B.Ed.

1. For B.A.B.Ed, B.Sc.B.Ed, candidates must have passed 10+2 from arts, commerce, or science with a minimum of 50% marks.

2. Those applying for the M.Ed. program must have B.Ed. with at least 50% marks in aggregate.

3. For M.Phil., the degree is M.A. in Education or M.Ed. A degree with at least 55% marks is required to be eligible.

4. Admission to all the courses is done through the CEE entrance exam.

5. The selected candidates are then required to attend counseling and submit all the required documents.
