Rajiv Gandhi University (formerly Arunachal University) is the premier institution for higher education in the state of Arunachal Pradesh and has completed twenty five years of its existence. Late Smt. Indira Gandhi, the then Prime Minister of India, laid the foundation stone of the university on 4th February 1984 at Rono Hills, where the present campus is located. Ever since its inception, the university has been trying to achieve excellence and fulfill the objectives as envisaged in the University Act. The University got academic recognition under section 2(f) from the University Grants Commission on 28th March, 1985 and started functioning from 1st April, 1985.
Rajiv Gandhi University is one of the most well-known universities in the nation. It was founded in the year 1984. Also, was one of the oldest universities in the nation. It is located in Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh.
The university was recognized by the University Grants Commission on 28th March 1985. It began operating on April 1st, 1985. It was granted its financial approval under Section 12-B UGC on March 25, 1994. The university is located at the top of Rono hills. It offers the most stunning breathtaking view of about 302 acres of sprawling campus. Faculty members and the infrastructure are a few of the most appealing attractions that draw students to studying and living a fulfilling time on campus.
This is recognized by University Grant Commission, AICTE and has fifteen colleges which are part of the University.
The courses offered at the Rajiv Gandhi university are Engineering and Management, Commerce Design, Law and Science, as well as Computer Application.

Rajiv Gandhi University offers BA, B.Sc, B.Com, BFA, BCA, B.Music, and BALLB at the undergraduate level. BA B.Sc and B.Sc are available in a variety of streams. The duration of these programs is three years. BALLB can be offered for five years. Candidates must meet the minimum qualification of the 12th class (arts/commerceor Science) stream at a recognized Board. The admission process for these programs will be granted by way of the Common University Entrance Test (CUET).
BCA as well as MCA are three-year courses that are taught in six semesters, whereas M.Tech, MBA and MSW are two-year courses with each semester lasting four semesters. To be admitted to the M.Tech program, applicants with a valid GATE scores are preferred. For M.Tech for Electronics and Computer Engineering AIMETE and IETE graduates are also eligible to apply. MBA and MSW applicants MBA as well as MSW applicants are required to sit to a test written and then a personal interview.
RGU provides M.Phil and Ph.D programme that cover Anthropology, Hindi, Economics and Political Science as well as the Tribal Science, Mass Communication, Commerce, History, Geography, Botany and Zoology. Admission is determined by the result of RGUMPET followed by a Personal Interview. Holders of UGC/CSIR-JRF are exempted from the entrance test , and are required to attend the personal interview only.
All of the government scholarship offers can be used in our college. like st sc Obc and all stationary and books items are also provided free to st sc students and students with lower casts. Our college also offer scholarships for students from minority groups.
