About Ramnarain Ruia Autonomous College, Mumbai

Ramnarain Ruia College was founded in  1937 by  Shikshana Prasaraka Mandali, Pune. It was the first educational institution in Mumbai run by a private educational institution. The college was officially opened by H.E. Sir Roger Lumley,  then Governor of Bombay, on December 3, 1937. Much of the credit for establishing this institution goes to Mataji Suvratadevi Ruia and his illustrious son, Seth Ramnivas Ramnarain Ruia who made a handsome donation of Rs. 2.00.000 du Ramnarain Harnandrai Charitable Trust.

Residential Accommodation

Distinct inns for boys and girls are available on the university campus with high security. Boys and Girls have two hostels with Wi-Fi facilities for UG and PG, which can accommodate around 450 students each with good infrastructure. A college van and car are always available to meet guests' emergency needs. A well-equipped gym is established so that the students of the inn develop the physical ability of boys and girls. Library and Reading Halls

With one of the largest and richest collections in the academic arena, Ruia Library aims to fulfill the information needs of Ruia College. The main collection that makes up the books is over 1.25 lac. In addition to books, the library also has over 6,000 bound volumes of back issues of notable periodicals, non-printed material such as CD & amp; DVD, and subscriptions to over 100 national and international magazines. The library fund is fully computerized and all the bibliographic data of the books, and the journals are accessible to students via the online public access catalog (OPAC). Ruia Library is an institutional member of the Asian Library, American Library, and British Council Library. It is also registered as a member of the INFLIBNET “NLIST” project within which the Library provides all students free access to more than 80000 e-resources including a variety of e-journals & e-books. 

Language Lab

College established a language lab in the 201415 academic years to enhance language communication as part of the College of Excellence program. The laboratory focuses on providing special emphasis on the teaching of and practicing phonetics, correct pronunciation, and diction, especially in French, English, and Sanskrit.  Ruia College is one of the few center's offerings.

Canteen

It is speckless and maintained very well. It provides good quality fresh Snacks, cool drinks, coffee, tea, and other food items in a hygienic, healthy way that suits the pockets of the student.

Sport

The Ruia College Gymkhana has nurtured stalwarts in sports. The Gymkhana is fully equipped with a badminton court, boxing ring, highly sophisticated exercising equipment, and a shooting range of international standards. The College has established Ruia Sports Academy to train young children in various sports. It aims at tapping young sports talent and trains them through available sophisticated sports facilities.

Application for the government scholarships and free ships should be filled in the prescribed forms as and when available on the Maha DBT portal. No student can benefit from the allocation of two scholarships at the same time even if a student is free to request more than one.
