Rustamji Institute of Technology is the first engineering college in India established by a Para Military Force. Due to the bulk deployment of BSF personnel in far-flung border areas, militancy and Naxal-affected areas, the majority of the force personnel stay separated from their families and are unable to look after the proper education of their wards. RJIT was established with the objective of giving an opportunity to the children of BSF/CAPFs personnel as well as civilians to acquire quality technical education. This institute was inaugurated on 2nd October 1999 by Padma Vibhushan Shri K F Rustamji himself.

The founding father of BSF as its first Director General, Late Shri KF Rustamji always had the larger interest of the troops deep in his heart. He always felt that the BSF personnel deployed in remote areas and those who laid down their lives in honour of the country, their wards should be cared for with proper education facilities.

Sh E N Ram Mohan, the then DG of, BSF assigned the task to Dr GP Bhatnagar, the then IG/Director BSF Academy and Sh Mahabir Prasad, DC the then Commandant CSMT to work on the dreams of Shri Rustamji by establishing first ever engineering institute by a Para Military force in India with limited available resources.

Initially, the Institute was established temporarily at CSMT and later on, shifted to its allocated land near CSMT.

Hostel

RJIT Campus has separate hostel facilities for boys and girls. There are three hostels namely APJ Kalam Hostel, CV Raman Hostel for boys and Kalpana Chawla Hostel for girls. Each Hostel is 120 beds and has a separate mess and other facilities. The hostellers enjoy a disciplined and secure life having regular physical exercise and sports. Apart from academics, fun, entertainment and excursion activities are inherent parts of hostel life

Library

The library acquires a rich collection of Books and Electronic materials. Approx. 21589 Books have been added till the session of 2017-18. The use of library resources is the parameter of the effective working of the library and users' satisfaction. All the available resources are being highly used by the members of the library. E-Resources are also available at the Institute. Faculty members, researchers and students can access these resources through web browsing on RJIT Campus. Our collections are mostly on Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, Automobile Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Electronics Engineering.

Computer Center

The computer lab is a contend hub of activity throughout the day. Connectivity to the internet through all the nodes shall be executed.

Cafeteria

The campus has a modern cafeteria well furnished to cater to students' tastes. Besides beverages and snacks, it has a provision for serving meals to day boarding students as well.

Sport Facilities

The campus offers both indoor and outdoor sports facilities. We have a large sports field with facilities for playing, badminton, volleyball and cricket. We also have a common room for indoor sports.

Transport

The Institute provides transportation facilities to students from Gwalior. The Institute's buses provide transportation from Gwalior to Tekanpur and Vice-Versa.
