Recognitions and Accreditations
S.R.M Institute of Science and Technology in Chennai has earned approval from the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). Additionally, it holds an A++ grade accreditation from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). The institute's engineering programs are accredited by both the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET and the National Board of Accreditation (NBA). Furthermore, the University Grants Commission (UGC) recognizes its academic offerings.

As per law, Universities do not require AICTE approval. Only institutions which are affiliated to Universities require approval. The National Assessment and Accreditation Council is a government organization in India that assesses and accredits Higher Education Institutions. It is an autonomous body funded by the University Grants Commission and headquartered in Bangalore.
The National Board of Accreditation (NBA), India was initially established by the AICTE (All India Council of Technical Education) under section 10(u) of AICTE Act, in the year 1994, in order to assess the qualitative competence of the programs offered by educational institution from diploma level to post-graduate level in engineering and technology, management, pharmacy, architecture and related disciplines, which are approved by AICTE.
The ABET, incorporated as the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology, Inc., is a non-governmental organization that accredits post-secondary education programs in applied and natural science, computing, engineering and engineering technology.
