S.A. College of Arts & Science (SACAS) named after Smt. Sakunthala Ammal was established in the year 2019 under the auspices of Dharma Naidu Educational & Charitable Trust. The trust started functioning under the dynamic leadership and guidance of (Late) Thiru. D. Sudharssanam, MLA. The maiden step of the trust was in the year 1996-97 through the establishment of S. A. Polytechnic College. In its pursuit to propagate education and enhance literacy among youth, the trust started the S.A. Engineering College in 1998-99. Sudharsanam Vidyaashram, a school following the CBSE stream of education was started by the trust in the year 2014. The trust functions with a mission to provide affordable education while nurturing the holistic development of all its students. Besides they also focus on honing the social responsibilities among their student community and emerge as responsible citizens of the country.

SACAS is located in its sprawling campus spanning 3.43 acres and houses spacious classrooms, a myriad of labs and a preview theatre in addition to a fully equipped Digitalized Library. SACAS is backed by a spirited team of faculty members who are both qualified and experienced. They focus not only on academics but also do not leave any stone unturned to add to the competencies and skill sets of students. The college offers a plethora of opportunities for the students to bring to the spotlight their innate talents and ultimately prepare them to become employable. The college is affiliated with the University of Madras and currently offers 12 courses at the Under Graduate level.

Infrastructure

Administrative Services:

The administration and faculty offices are well equipped with modern equipment such as voice-over IP telephony equipment, computers, printers, scanners, and photocopy machines. The Administrative officer heads the department which handles Student Service, HR Recruitment, Purchase, Dispatch, and all official correspondence with regulatory bodies such as Madras University, UGC, etc. Students may visit the office for issues related to Identity cards, Bonafide certificates, Bus passes, Fee queries, scholarships, Medical emergencies, and any other grievances.

Classrooms:

Spacious and well-equipped classrooms provide students access to the internet, a video projector, an overhead projector, speakers, and whiteboards.

Digitalized Library:

The library is very unique in its own way and includes an Audio-Visual Language Lab. It stocks over 4000 books spanning different subjects and titles, reputed journals (Online & Print), and reference books. To make learning a pleasurable experience the library has 10 computers with a high-speed internet facility. Our students are encouraged to surf the internet through search engines to access current data.

Transport Facility:

The College has buses to transport students and staff from various parts of the city and its neighbouring areas to the College and back home. Every student is expected to avail of the transport facility to enable him/her to be punctual to come to the College. Besides the regularly scheduled trips, the facility is extended for occasions like after the College hour Special Coaching classes, Placements, and Training, Visit Local Industries, hospitals, NSS Camps, etc.

Residential Accommodations:

SA College of Arts and Science offers separate hostel facilities for our students and ensures their safety and convenience. The hostel mess offers home-cooked nutritious vegetarian and non-vegetarian food for the hostelites. The in-house ATM facility adds to their convenience while 24/7 security takes care of their safety.

Value Added Services

Health Care Centre:

Prompt medical attention is provided to the faculty, students, and non-teaching staff members of our college through the Health Care Centre. The centre is adequately bedded and with a nurse on call during working hours. Call doctors to handle emergencies and counselling requirements of the patients. Working Hours: 08:30 a.m. to 04:00 p.m.

Campus Security Services:

SACAS offers round-the-clock safety with a team of dedicated security professionals.

ATM Facility:

Our Institution provides a 24-hour Axis Bank ATM facility for the benefit of faculty and students within the campus.

Back-Up Generators:

Our Institution has 24 x 7 eco-friendly diesel generators with a capacity of 400 KVA for uninterrupted power supply around the clock.

Cafeteria:

The cafeteria offers a wide medley of hygienic, nutritious South Indian Vegetarian and Non-vegetarian cuisines. Separate dining areas have been earmarked for boys and girls. The cafeteria is open to guests, inmates, visitors, faculty, and students.

Labs:

SACAS takes great pride in providing each distinct course with its matching need-based lab. These labs are backed by upgraded technology and equipment, uninterrupted power supply, and are manned by a qualified lab technician to render support to the students.

Computer Lab:

This Lab supports the smooth functioning of our computer-related course. The college is equipped with hi-tech computers housing over 100 computers with LAN and internet services through wireless connectivity for time easy access. The lab is supported with LCD projection systems, hardware, and software, printers, scanners, photocopying machines etc.

Chemistry Lab / Biochemistry Lab / Nutrition and Dietetics Lab:

These labs aid the practical sessions of the Home Science department.

Drawing Room / Photography Studio / Graphics Lab:

These comprise the making of the Visual Communication department and help students open their vistas of creativity and dawn their thinking hat.

Selection of the students will be based on Merit in the previous qualifying examination.
