Sacred Heart College, Chalakudy is the realization of a long-cherished dream of the people of  Chalakudy and the suburbs. The will of the people assisted by Divine blessings and the profound fellow feeling of the Clarist Sisters paved the way for the establishment of the college in 1980 by the Alvernia Province of Franciscan Clarist Congregation. The college is affiliated to the University of Calicut and is aided by the Government of Kerala. Located within the municipal limits of Chalakudy with a 26-acre lush green campus, the college provides a congenial ambiance for the overall advancement of the students. In 1991, the college was upgraded to a first-grade College by the Government of Kerala. At present, the College offers 9 UG Programmes, 8 PG Programmes, and an integrated PG program (M Sc. Psychology). The College has completed 43 years of meritorious service in the field of education.

Fresher's Day is an occasion for newcomers to exhibit their talents. We also organize a hostel tour which is a memorable event for every inmate.

Counseling Center:

Mental health is an important part of an individual’s well-being. It affects how we think, feel, and act. It also helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make healthy choices. The college has a counseling center with a registered clinical psychologist who provides her services to the students. Through the counseling center help is given to those going through difficult times in their lives such as difficulties in studies, addictions, cope up with the death of a loved one, anger issues, anxiety, depression, and any other kind of mental health issue. Focus is given to the overall subjective well-being of the students. In line with the mission of our college to spread light in the darkness we have extended these services to the community through the counseling center which functions during college hours. The clinical psychologist ensures scientific evaluation of the client's mental health issues using standardized tests. After evaluation, detailed psychosocial education on concerned mental health issues is also given.

Open Gym:

Physical activity can benefit an individual in a number of ways, including enhancing your self-worth, mood, sleep, and energy, and lowering your risk of stress, clinical depression, etc. The Sacred Heart College Fitness Center offers a wide range of fitness equipment for usage. There are free weights, resistance machines, cardio machines, and equipment for core stability. Because there are so many possibilities, students can exercise in a variety of ways. Purchasing high-cost commercial-grade exercise equipment hinders the common man from daily exercise. To counter this our institution offers the community access to the equipment in our fitness center after college hours.

Fitness Center:

Physical fitness is the capacity of your body's systems to cooperate effectively, enabling you to maintain good health and carry out regular activities. A physically healthy person can do everyday tasks with ease. The students at Sacred Heart College are encouraged to maintain good physical health. Students can use a range of fitness equipment in an open gym for this at their convenience. The community is also given access to these services through the college. The public is welcome to use the gym every evening after college hours.

Laboratory:

The Department of Chemistry is equipped with facilities for the analysis of physicochemical parameters of water. The department has a Water Analysis Unit and several samples are analysed every year. Several Schools and most of the people living in and around the college premises use this facility. Our students are getting good exposure and hands-on training in Water Analysis. The Department of Chemistry is having a Self Employment Unit. It aims to empower women by giving hands-on training to make soaps, detergents, hand-wash, dishwasher, pain balm, sanitizer, etc. The students of the Department produce these materials and sell them both within the College and outside. The profit obtained from the sales of these materials is used for charity purposes. During the Corona pandemic, the Department initiated the production of sanitizers and hand-wash and distributed them in the nearby locality, schools, railway station, police station, fire force, traffic police, KSRTC bus stand, rickshaw stand, etc., and created awareness.

Sports Facilities:

Over the preceding decades, the college has established itself as one of the leading achievers in cycling. Our student-athletes receive excellent training and professional support. Students are given track cycles for efficient practice. We have won several prizes in District, State, and University level championships. We were consistently the champions of the women's cycling competition at Calicut University for several years. We used to organize both men's/women's cycling championships in our College groundsAdequate facilities for sports and games are provided with the aim of motivating students to become physically fit and strong. In addition, sports help in fostering sportsman spirit and in imbibing leadership qualities, teamwork, problem-solving, etc.

Faculty: 

The faculty members are excellent and very friendly. They are easily approachable - even during vacations. We have some guest lectures for self-financing departments. But for other courses, we have well-experienced teachers. We also have permanent lab assistants.
