Hon. Shri. Vijaysinh Mohite-Patil the founder of SMSMP Hospital Trust is a man of vision. Realizing the increasing need for engineering in society and industry, the SMSMP Institute of Technology & Research established, Akluj in 2011. Since its establishment, the college has grown to become one of the leading Engineering Education Institutions in Solapur.

In ten years, the College has gained appreciation because of excellent infrastructure, well-equipped laboratory facilities, qualified faculty, and hence the outstanding results of students. The College is affiliated with PAH Solapur University; the courses are approved by the All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi, which is the apex body controlling technical education in the country. The College offers four years of Undergraduate Programmes leading to five Bachelor of Technology (B. Tech.).

It is the blending of academic and residential life. The hostel facility for boys students is available in separate buildings. The students are provided with almost all the required amenities. A special committee has been organized, involving eminent ladies of the region. The well-planned boy’s hostel accommodates around 300 students. They have been provided with mess, communication, and Internet facilities. Each room has an attached toilet and bathroom.

The Institute is very much aware that the Library is the soul of any academic institution and the backbone of any civilized society. It is a central place for academic and research activities. Thus, the library at SMSMPITR acquires a prominent responsibility. Being a backbone of the institute, it acquires a large number of books having national and international standards. The library has a reading room section of 100 student capacity. It has subscriptions to national and international journals and has compiled information from international journals.

The library facility is provided to the students and staff members for updating their knowledge and supporting the teaching, learning, and research activities. It is provided through the central library and departmental libraries keeping in view the fast changes in technology.

The workshop is the central facility for imparting training to the students of all branches of First Year B. Tech in various shops. Training is also imparted to Mech. Engg. Students of all branches use workshop facilities for the fabrication of their minor and major projects. The Final Year students in the Mechanical discipline utilize the facilities of the central workshop in connection with their project work. Facilities exist for the manufacture of components, parts, and repair work. The central workshop comprises the following shops which are well-equipped with the latest tools and equipment.

The College Health Centre has separate inpatient facilities for male and female students. The health center provides quality health care in a comfortable and confidential environment. The center has 6 beds and an adequately supplied medicine cabinet. The health center is manned by a medical officer and a healthcare assistant to provide excellent medical care to all the students, staff, and faculty at no cost.

The College has several sports & activities – all the indoor & outdoor activities i.e., Archery, Badminton, Basketball, Chess, Cricket, Football, Handball, Hockey, Judo, Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Netball, Powerlifting, Swimming, Tennis, Table Tennis, Throwball, Volleyball, Softball, Yoga, Wrestling and Weight Lifting. The Institution is very supportive and encourages the students to involve in activities.

The college canteen ensures healthy and hygienic food for every individual at affordable rates. Separate facilities are provided to boys and girls. The committee including staff and students have been formed to check the quality of the food frequently.
