Samajbhushan Ganpatrao Kalbhor Arts, Commerce & Science College, Loni Kalbhor was established in June 1984, to open the door of higher education to the rural youths, especially boys & girls of the farmers and farm workers of and around Loni Kalbhor. Late Shree Ganpatrao Kalbhor alias Mama and late Dr Bapuji Salunkhe the founder of Shree Swami Vivekanand Shikshan Sanstha, Kolhapur along with some well-wishers of the Society, took the initiative to establish this college. Loni Kalbhor is an agricultural town situated on the bank of the river Mula-Mutha. Loni Kalbhor is on the outskirt of Pune, the so-called Seat of Education. Young boys and girls cannot afford to go to Pune for higher education. This college has availed the opportunity of higher education to these rural youths. Today our college has been 28 years old and has created a distinct place in the minds of the citizens.

The college has two faculties Arts and Commerce. The students of the Arts Faculty can offer English, Marathi, Hindi, History, Politics and Economics as Special Subjects at the degree level and the students of the Commerce faculty can offer Cost & Works A/C and Marketing Management as Specials Subjects at the degree level. In the past, the college had Science faculty too. Unfortunately, the Science faculty was closed due to the lack of a sufficient number of students.

Students are encouraged to write articles and participate in various other co-curricular activities throughout the year. The college has a voluminous library like no other institute in the region. A book bank scheme is also running in the library for the use of students. Other activities like NSS and sports, help in the overall personality development of the students.

The college has an excellent IT Infrastructure facility for the students. The college has a 01 computer laboratory. All the departments have separate Computers with Wi-Fi connectivity.

Auditorium

The college has an auditorium facility for events and seminars. There are an open theatre and auditorium for theatrical presentation on the campus having the approximate area is about 25.82sq/ft.

Alumni Associations

The college has a registered alumni association which gives a significant contribution to the development of the College. Every year, an alumni meet is conducted on the College campus by the alumni association. Some alumni give their valuable help economically to the College to organize different events like the Extension Education Lecture Series (Bahishal Vyakhyanmala), conferences, and Seminars at the National, State, and University Levels.

The college has provided wifi facilities to students and teachers for this the college has tied up with BSNL Ltd. The data available for a student is 50 Mbps in one stroke.

The placement & Career Guidance & Counselling Cell of S.G.K. College plays a crucial role in guiding the students to various openings suitable to their competency, economic resources and personal choices. Since the student intake is from different social, economic and academic backgrounds, the students require well-planned and organized career counselling at the institutional level for their career progression.
