Samanta Chandra Sekhar Autonomous College, Puri, is one of the leading institutions of higher learning in the state of Odisha. Right since its inception in 1944, the college has consistently maintained an excellent performance record. Infrastructure

There has been considerable development in the infrastructure and learning resources over the years. The physical infrastructure consists of the ‘E’ shaped main building of the college where the teaching departments, one central library, the administrative block, and four lecture theatres including a magnificent Hall provide enough space for classes, conferences, and seminars. In addition to this, an auditorium has been built where different cultural functions can be organized. Keeping in view the availability of several rooms and increasing student strength, the timetable has been prepared. Time slots have also been made available for seminar activities and project work. The existing infrastructure is utilized to the optimum level, such as the Auditorium, the College Hall, and the Seminar Libraries are not only used for in-house activities but also for cultural activities and extra-mural lectures. The college has large spacious classrooms properly lit and ventilated.

The central library of Samanta Chandra Sekhara Autonomous College, Puri is well equipped with a huge collection of books, CD-ROMs, databases, thesis, journals, project reports, micro documents, etc. The library works for 7 hours a day. The library also has a reading room that lets students and other visitors read in a peaceful environment.

1. Almost all the departments are provided with computers to transmit intellectual information to the students and the staff.

2. Other infrastructure and learning resources include laboratories in All Science departments.

3. laboratories in the Department of Psychology, Education, and Geography with the latest instruments, laboratory equipment, and test materials.

There is the provision of health care facilities for students and all other staff members of the college, which is located in the Youth Red Cross Room.

On the campus, there is a wonderful playground with a gallery and dressing room where students utilize their leisure time in playing different games and there are two beautiful gardens that enhance the beauty of the college. The college has a large playground and one gymnasium to cater to the needs of the students and other cultural organizations of Puri town. Already various national-level competitions have been undertaken. Last year the national-level Wrestling Championship was undertaken here. The Gymnasium is equipped with sophisticated equipment for exercise, which is made available both for students and lecturers. It acts as a health center for students and teachers.

The College has a Canteen, which provides snacks, lunch, hot and soft drinks to the staff and students of the college at concessional rates.

Placement

The Placement Cell is managed by a specially trained team of faculty members as coordinators. The Cell aims at providing opportunities for employment in different sectors by conducting campus drives and off-campus drives in collaboration with various organizations of repute. In the last three years annual campus drives were organized in association with organizations like IBM Daksh, Genpact, TCS, Wipro, Infosys, HSBC, and SBI (for Probationary Officers). Hundreds of students at their final degree stage are given opportunities in the drive and many of them have been selected and are now working in different reputed organizations of the country.
