The educational institution was named after the great saint ADHI SANKARA. The educational institution runs under Coimbatore Educational and Cultural Foundation Trust (CECFT) headed by the dynamic Managing Trustee and Secretary Shri. T.P. Ramachandran. Under the umbrella, Sankara Polytechnic College was established in 1983 and Sankara College of Science and Commerce was established in 1991. Both institutions offer industry-ready academic programs in Diploma Engineering, Science, Commerce, and Management.

Library:

Sankara Library is established in the year 1991. A well-stocked Library has been emerging as a knowledge resource center catering to the needs of the Faculty, Research Scholars, and Students. The college has two libraries which are located in the UG block and PG block for utilization. The library is well furnished to provide the ambiance for peaceful learning. Core collections of library books are available to support staff, students, and research scholars for effective utilization along with systems for online access.

The well-equipped library is continuously enlarged by adding more books and journals on relevant subjects. The learning center has a collection of over 22,944 volumes of books with 9523 titles and 42 national and international journals, 82 M.Phil and Ph.D. dissertations, and project reports of the students. In addition to that 15,000 plus e-resources are available in various streams for use and they can be accessed by staff and students anywhere. The library is fully automated with all the reprographic facilities. The library has exclusive desktop systems with internet cum WiFi connection for effective usage. The library provides remote access to e-books and e-journals provided to faculty and students through N-List Login.

Sports Facilities:

The College has fully equipped state-of-the-art sports facilities. Large Football fields, Volleyball and Tennis courts Cricket pitch, and a well-maintained track enable the students to prove their power in the sporting arena. The college encourages sports activities and gives Physical Education a status on par with academia. Sports scholarships are given to students who are placed at top levels. The college has an extraordinary 400 meters Play Field with International Standards.

Boy's Hostel:

The College has an exclusive hostel facility for boys inside the campus with an accommodation capacity of 100 students with 25 rooms. A hygienic kitchen and mess facility is available inside the hostel for food service. The candidates seeking the hostel facility has to submit separate hostel form in the college administrative office signed by the Principal and Administrative office to book accommodation. Hostel admissions are subject to room availability.

Girl's Hostel:

The College has an exclusive hostel facility for girls inside the campus near the main block with an accommodation capacity of 100 students with 25 rooms.
