CRITERIA OF ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION

CITIZENSHIP

The candidate must be a citizen of India. As per the regulations issued by the AICTE/University/Entrance Commissioner regarding the criteria of eligibility for admission and procedure for selection to the Engineering course.

ACADEMIC

A Pass in the Higher Secondary Examination of the Board of Higher Secondary Education of Govt. of Kerala or any examination is equivalent thereto with at least fifty percent marks in Mathematics separately and an aggregate of fifty percent marks in Physics and Chemistry/equivalent subjects put together or equivalent grade for 50% of Merit seats, and aggregate of 45% marks in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry/equivalent subjects put together or equivalent grade for 50% Management seats. Candidates belonging to Socially and Educationally backward classes will have a relaxation of 5% marks in the qualifying examination. The scheduled caste and scheduled tribe candidates need only a pass in the qualifying examination

LATERAL ENTRY

A pass in Diploma in Engineering awarded by the State Board of Technical Education or Equivalent after undergoing a regular course of 3 years in an approved Institution and having a minimum of 60% marks in the final year. Eligible candidates are admitted in the third Semester.

AGE LIMIT

Applicant should be completed 17 years of age at the time of Admission.

AGE LIMIT (Lateral Entry)

The maximum age as of the last date of admission of application will be 28 years.

HOW TO APPLY

The PProspectusalong with the application form can be obtained from the College office on payment.

The application can be submitted on the forms available with the prospectus.

OR

Application forms can be downloaded from the website www.sist.in. Such applications have to be submitted along with a DD of Rs.300/- drawn in favor of The Principal, Sarabhai Institute of Science and Technology, payable at Thiruvananthapuram.

The duly filled-in application along with self-attested copies of necessary documents should be submitted directly or by registered post with A/D to the College Office to reach the Office on or before the prescribed date. Applicants shall obtain acknowledgment from the Office for applications submitted directly.

Applications submitted to the Office should be complete in all respects. The candidate should fill in all the items in the application form in his/her handwriting.

The following self-attested copies of certificates/documents shall be submitted along with the application.

• 10th/12th certificate in proof of date of birth.

• Admit card of the Common Entrance Examination conducted by the Commissioner for Entrance Examination, Govt. of Kerala.

• Mark the list of qualifying examinations and entrance examinations.

Selection for Management Quota will be strictly on merit, rank list published by Commissioner Entrance Examination, Govt. of Kerala. Selected candidates have to appear for an Interview before the final selection without fail.

ADMISSION  Selected candidates shall take admission at the scheduled time in the College after paying the tuition fee and other fees failing which the admission will be canceled.

Liquidated Damages: If a candidate leaves the College after the closure of admission, he/she will be liable for forfeiture of the fees and also will be liable to pay liquidated damages equivalent to tuition fees for the remaining three years.

• SSLC or X Pass Certificate

• XII Mark List

• Mark the Data Sheet of the Entrance Exam

• Transfer Certificate

• Course & Conduct Certificate

• Physical Fitness Certificate

• copies of qualifying Certificates (2 Nos.)

• Passport size photograph (2 Nos.) and stamp size (1 No.)

• Original Cash Receipt from Bank (for merit quota students only)

• Migration Certificate, if applicable

• Admission for NRI Dependents ( 5% of approved seats *)

As per the regulation issued y the government of Kerala/AICTE regarding the % of allotment and eligibility.

1.       As per the criteria issued by the Government from time to time.

2 .      Sponsorship: Parents of NRIs can avail the facility.

3 .      Documents to be submitted: Copy of Passport, Visa.

M-Tech Admission

Copies of documents to be submitted along with the application form

Qualifying examination certificate/provisional certificate and mark lists.

GATE scorecard (for candidates with valid GATE scores).

Community certificate issued by the competent authority for candidates claiming eligibility for reservation under SC/ST quota.

Proof of date of birth.

Sponsorship certificate from the competent authority in the prescribed format (For sponsored candidates).

Migration Certificate if required.

Procedure for selection

The selection of the candidate will be based on the valid GATE score.

If sufficient GGATE-qualified candidates are not available, the selection will be based on the marks obtained in the qualifying examination and the Test/Interview conducted by the college as per the direction of the University.

Merit lists for the different categories will be published on the College notice boards.

Selected candidates should take admission at the appointed time after paying the tuition fees and other fees including those to be paid to the University. Transfer Certificate and Conduct Certificate issued from the Institution last attended must be produced at the time of admission.

Selected candidates are required to deposit their original certificates at the College at the time of admission.

Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility criteria are as per the rules and regulations of Kerala Technological University/AICTE:

a)      The candidates have a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering in the appropriate branch

with a minimum of 60% aggregate or equivalent.

b)      Candidate having AMIE in the appropriate branch of Engineering with a minimum of

60% aggregate or equivalent.

c)     Candidate with Valid GATE Score.

d)     The candidate will be selected from the list published by DTE.

e)      Candidates who have degrees awarded from Universities other than CUSAT have to submit

Migration Certificate also at the time of admission.

f)       Candidates who have appeared for the final examination can also apply, provided he/she has

passed all the subjects up to and including the 7th-semester exam. Such candidates shall submit

self-attested copies of all mark lists up to the 7th semester along with the application. Selection of such

candidates shall be subject to the production of Certificates, satisfying clauses (a) to (e)

How to Apply

Application may be submitted in the prescribed form available at the College/ City Office on payment of Rs.500/- cash. Application is to be accompanied by self-attested copies of required documents.
