About Saranathan College of Engineering (SCE), Tiruchirappalli
Saranathan College of Engineering was founded by “Vidya Seva Ratnam”, “Guru Seva Mani” and Auditor Sri. K. Santhanam in the year 1998. It was so named in respectful memory of his Guru Principal Saranathan, the greatest ever Principal of National College. It is a self-financing college approved by AICTE and affiliated with Anna University, Chennai. The college was temporarily (approx. 2 years) located in the Seshasayee Institute of Technology, thanks to the gracious permission from the Honorary Secretary and Correspondent of that Institution, Er. G. Sundaram and shifted to its current sprawling 40-acre campus on the Chennai – Madurai Expressway at Panjappur on 3rd January 2000 and was formally inaugurated on 19th October 2000, by “Peraasiriyar K Anbazhagan, the then Minister of Education, Government of Tamil Nadu.

The college has a current annual intake of 660 students for the 7 branches offered at the undergraduate level and 132 students for the 5 courses offered at the post-graduate level. With a built-up area of 200000 sq ft, 8 seminar halls, and a state-of-the-art library with more than 55688 books and 225 periodicals and journals (both national and international), the college offers the ideal environment for the students to absorb and assimilate the top class technical education and professional training offered.

Library:

The library is located in the MBA Block. It is a building with a ground floor and first floor and is strategically placed for access from all departments. It spreads over a vast area of 802 sqm. The ground floor is the area to store the books and it contains the reading section. The first floor is exclusively allocated for the digital section and reference section.

The SCE College Central Library is a vast storehouse of books with over 55688 volumes and more than 300 regularly subscribed journals. This includes foreign IEEE and ASME Online journals. More books are being added to the main Library every year.

Hostel:

The Boy's Hostel covers an area of 40,400 sq. ft. It is equipped with Play Ground, Computer Center, and Wi-Fi Facility. It consists of a 40KVA Power Generator Facility. Boys Hostel rules and regulations, Girl Hostel Mini computer center with 10 Mbps internet connectivity and Wi-Fi connectivity.24-Hour all-round security service to ensure the safety of inmates.Pure drinking water from the RO plant. It consists of a 125KVA Power Generator Facility. Girls Hostel rules and regulation

Canteen:

The Canteen covers an area of 8,350 sq. ft. It consists of separate dining halls for both boys and girls.

Transport:

The SCE College has a fleet of buses to facilitate the to and fro transport of students. A fleet of twenty-five buses is operated from different parts of the neighboring areas to bring the students and staff to the college premises on time. In addition, several state-owned and private town and mofussil buses ply via the college and this place is easily accessible from Tiruchi Bus stand and Railway station. The Government of Tamilnadu has arranged an exclusive bus to ply between the Mainguard gate and our college, both in the morning and evening.

SCE Placement Cell :

The SCE Placement Cell is an interface between the Corporate world and the students of SCE. It enables the students to make better and more informed career choices. The Placement Cell invites industries to share their knowledge and experience with students through guest lectures, workshops, presentations, and informal get-togethers. The Placement Cell also organizes the placement process including Summer training and Final placements. The Cell manages and facilitates on-campus recruitment processes including pre-placement presentations by potential employers to highlight the issues, expectations, and professional opportunities, unique to the company and industry. Students of SCE have been placed in Domestic, Global, and Public Sector Firms. The Training and Placement Cell takes care of the Campus Connect Programme.
