Sarvajanik Education Society, a premier educational institution established in Surat in 1912 with the management of just one secondary school, then known as the English School (Dhingali’s School- Doll’s School), and under its care 35 institutions imparting education from pre-school level to post graduate levels covering a variety of disciplines including engineering and management education. The society also has under its umbrella two research institutions – one for Languages and social sciences and one for Environmental Engineering.

In the early years, there was no Law College between Bombay and Baroda. Society started the first Law College in the year 1935. V. T. Choksi Sarvajanik Law College is a grant-in-aid college. This College runs in the morning and the society thought of utilizing its resources to run a self-financed College in the noon session for the benefit of the people of Surat and around.

The social needs and expectations in respect of education are ever-expanding and newer avenues of development have to be explored for a healthy and socially relevant growth of education for tomorrow. The Sarvajanik Education Society is therefore striving to recognize the changing needs and to organize its affairs accordingly with full confidence as it had in the past.

In view of the need for a new Law College, Society took the initiative to start a self-Financed Law College in the academic year 2015-16. Approvals from Bar Council of India and Veer Narmad South Gujarat University have been received and the College started functioning from 2015-16 admitting 120 students in the First Year LL.B. Course. The second year LL.B from 2016-17 and the Third year LL.B from 2017-18.With the inception of Sarvajanik University in the year 2021 college is now one of the constituent colleges of Sarvajanik University.
