The college was established during 1972-73 by Sri Chintalapati Varaprasada Murthy Raju under the aegis of the trust – namely,
"Sri Chinthalapati Bapiraju Dharma Samstha", Chinanindrakolanu, West Godavari District, Andhra Pradesh to meet the educational needs of students in the area. At a time when the masses of the region were engulfed in absolute poverty with a gross illiteracy rate and academic retardation, Sri Chintalapati Varaprasada trust founder Murthy Raju who was a Gandhian, Member of Legislative Assembly and minister, he had made tireless efforts to improve the local population and free the region from poverty through education.

The Library
Sri Aravinda Sathajayanthi Government Degree College, Narayanapuram has its excellently equipped library housed in a second-storeyed building. It is well ventilated and furnished with a pleasant academic environment. The library has a collection of over 10,000 books, over 100 journals, over 500 memoirs, and 4,000 back issues of magazines and CDs and DVDs.
