Satavahana University has its roots in the erstwhile Post Graduate Centre of Osmania and Kakatiya Universities. In the months of June 2008, the Post Graduate Centre has been upgraded to Satavahana University. The University is named after the SATAVAHANA dynasty that ruled this region. The foundation for the establishment of the University was laid in July 2008 on 200 acres of the main campus situated in the immediate neighborhood of Karimnagar Town on Malkapur Road. The sprawling University campus is a beautiful forest-like environment with idyllic surroundings. The University started functioning from the main campus in September 2013 and purposes to shift the entire PG Programmes to the main campus by July/August 2013 in a full-fledged manner.

Central Library

A well-designed double-storied building is constructed on the main campus and functioning since March 2015. The Library is providing reading/online material for students, scholars, teachers, and non-teaching staff. The Central Library is divided into Circulation Section, Periodical Section/Competitive Section/News Papers/Magazines, and Stack Section and also provides internet facilities on the ground floor. 24X7 hall is also available for students to read their own books.

Sc and St Cell

The University established a special Cell for the welfare of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes students and Staff. The Cell is advised by a Standing Committee on various policy matters pertaining to academic and non-academic matters under the Chairmanship of the Vice-Chancellor.

Health Center

The University Health Centre provides all primary medical facilities like first aid treatment and medicines to the students on the campus free of cost. The University Health Centre has a retired government service Doctor and Qualified Registered Nurse to treat the students when required. An ambulance facility is also provided to the students residing in University hostels boys and girls during emergencies. Qualified Nurse is present during all the working days of the University at Health Center. Doctor timings are from 3:30 -5:30 pm on all working days.

Sports

The University Games and Sports Board came into existence in 2010. It has taken up activities at the university and college levels. The students took part at ALL India University (AIU) level South Zone and Central Zone in different disciplines like.

Boys Hostel

Abhyasa Boy’s hostel was inaugurated on 22nd February 2015 to provide hospitality and boarding facilities for the benefit of the PG students of Satavahana University, Karimnagar. The hostel is also attached with a well-furnished kitchen and mess that can host 150 students at a time and is surrounded by barbed wire fencing in order to inhibit the entrance of dogs, pigs, and other cattle into the hostel premises. Hostel administration is very keen on maintaining of premises clean and green, planting nearly 1500 flower and fruit-yielding plants in order to create an aesthetic atmosphere for the student boarders. A mineral water plant with a capacity of 250 liters was installed to provide safe drinking water to the students. Dhobi ghat with 20 taps with a good platform is available for proper washing of clothes.

Girls Hostel

Anyone Girl’s Hostel was inaugurated on 22nd February 2015 to provide hospitality and boarding facilities for the benefit of the PG students of Satavahana University, Karimnagar. The hostel is also attached with a well-furnished kitchen and mess that can host 120 students at a time and is surrounded by barbed wire fencing in order to inhibit the entrance of dogs, pigs, and other cattle into the hostel premises. Hostel administration is very keen on maintaining of premises clean and green, planting nearly 1000 flower and fruit-yielding plants in order to create an aesthetic atmosphere for the student boarders. A mineral water plant with a capacity of 2000 liters was installed to provide safe drinking water to the students. Dhobi ghat with 28 taps with a good platform is available for proper washing of clothes.

Placement Cell

The cell was established in 2010, with the primary goal to guide students to various career and competitive opportunities. It guides the students with the skills essential for successful positions which lead to the expected career of students of arts, commerce, management, Sciences, and social sciences.
