The year 1947 marked the beginning of a new era in medical education in Rajasthan with the inception of the 15th centre for medical education in India.
Sawai Man Singh Medical College in Jaipur. This government medical college was established in 1947 and is the fifteenth center of medical education in India. It offers medical education in Rajasthan and is located in the city of Jaipur. During its inception, the college had a small student population and was considered one of the best in India.
In 2020, SMS medical college was ranked 27th among medical colleges in India by NIRF. Sawai Man Singh Medical College in Jaipur was approved by the Medical Council of India.

Boys and girls can stay in separate hostels on campus. All are fully air-conditioned and have Wi-Fi facilities.

The college is also equipped with a Vachanalaya Library, which has seating for up to 250 students. The facility is fully air-conditioned, making it comfortable for students to study or read. The library also has room for 130 people, and a lot of students use this facility. This is an impressive library and a major benefit to the college.

The college has recently undergone some major renovations and has state-of-the-art lab facilities. In addition to providing excellent training in medical procedures.
