The School of Management Studies is one of the oldest academic units of the University. It was conceived with the aim to promote management education, way back in the year 1961. Being one of the first five management schools to be established in the country, it started functioning on the premises of the Fertilizers and Chemicals Travancore Ltd. (FACT) in October 1964 as a part of Kerala University with Professor Emeritus (Dr.) M.V.Pylee as the director. When the University of Cochin was formed in the year 1971 (which later became Cochin University of Science and Technology) the school became an integral part of the University. Since then, the school has striven tirelessly in pursuit of excellence in management education and is celebrating its 45th year.

The college has a rich history of its own making it one of the best business school libraries in south India. It is well-equipped and organized, with a vast collection of books and digital resources catering to the intellectual stimulation of management students, professionals, and researchers. 

I.T Infrastructure:

The college computer lab in SMS is equipped with 50-plus workstations and boasts of world-class ICT infrastructure comprising high-quality hardware, software, and communication systems. The Computer Centre established in 1989, is one of the seven Level III centres, spread out among the various regions of India, under the ICOSER project initiated by the Technology Information Forecasting and Assessment Council (TIFAC) of the DST. High-performance computing equipment has been provided to promote scientific research in this region. The Level III Centres across the country, are linked through 64 kbps data links, with connectivity to the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, which is coordinating the ICOSER project at the national level. It acts as the nerve centre for the campus-wide fibre optic network, forming the central switching point in a hierarchical star structure. 

Cafeteria:

The cafeteria serves multi-cuisine food for the students and faculty members at reasonable prices. The food is hygienically prepared and rich in nutrition content.

Faculty: 

Outstanding as they promoted self-study and trial and error methods rather than the intense spoon-feeding done at other colleges which made us industry ready.

Placement: 

Our placements from the School of Management Studies CUSAT will begin by the third semester onwards. The majority of the class will get placed with the highest package of 21 lakhs and the average package of 8.5 lakhs. I am preparing for the placements.
