The University of Kerala, School of Distance Education, Thiruvananthapuram Kerala was established in 1976 as a public educational institution to provide higher education to build a career in management, humanities, and sciences.  Kerala University Distance Learning School is a prestigious DEB Approved, NAAC-A Accredited, and Affiliated with KU, Thiruvananthapuram. The management of Kerala University, School of Distance Education, Thiruvananthapuramworks under the direction of Dr. KSZenath (Director).

Travancore University, which eventually became Kerala University, was established in 1937 by the proclamation of the Maharajah of Travancore, Sri Chithira Thirunal Balarama Varma, who was also the university's first Chancellor.  Established in 1976 as the Teaching and Research Department of the University of Kerala, the School of Distance Education is one of the pioneering distance education centers in the state.

The correspondence school has its own separate library with a fairly large collection of books, memoirs, magazines, encyclopedias, etc. Currently, the library has more than 30,000 books on a variety of subjects. The library not only meets the academic needs of students, distance learners, and teachers but also has a large collection of academic journals, UGC NET and JRF guides, public service exam materials, and past exams.  Thus he assembled a balanced and rich collection of all branches of knowledge, as well as general books in various fields. Library automation is accomplished using KOHA software, which simplifies all internal library operations. The library currently subscribes to more than 8 journals in different fields.
