The School Planning and Architecture (SPA), Mysore was established in the year 2015-16 at the University of Mysore, Mysuru. There are two Departments in SPA namely the Department of Planning and the Department of Architecture. The Urban and Regional Planning Courses namely M.Tech Urban and Regional Planning Courses and PhD were started in 1971 at the Institute of Development Studies and Architecture Courses namely B. Arch and M.Arch (Urban Design) were started in 2002 at the University School of Design(USD) in the University of Mysore.

Facilities and Infrastructure

The University of Mysore has a sophisticated Central Library with a vast collection of print and E-resources on varied subjects. The School of Planning and Architecture has an exclusive Library for the students and the faculty for their day-to-day references. Presently the School of Architecture and Planning has a well-equipped Library having a rich collection of books, reports, and national and international journals.

The auditorium is quite spacious, and it can seat hundreds of students. The dais is big enough for several guests, and it is suitable for projecting videos or slideshows too. We have centralized air conditioning for the comfort of the occupants. A high-quality projector is arranged with a crystal clear screen, and the screen is usually placed on the dais wall. Auditorium also has the required sound system, which can keep you involved in the event. The superior comfort levels of our auditorium have made many events successful.

The Computer lab is equipped with an adequate number of workstations complemented with high-end processors and the latest versions of drafting and visualization software to make students abreast of the advanced technology. Students learn under the guidance of experts from the industry. The lab is also equipped with printing and plotting facilities. Every student is given a user-id for using the Wi-Fi facilities available on campus.

Climatic information about the place is an important parameter applied in the design of buildings. Hence climatology forms an essential part of the curriculum of the B.Arch. programme. To foster a practical understanding of the climatic factors and their implication in the design process we have a well-equipped lab with instruments to measure temperature, humidity, wind speed, and solar radiation.

The college has a spacious canteen facility on the college premises and is run by college management. A variety of south Indian food and snack items are provided to the students and staff of the college at highly subsidized rates with the highest quality. Our college canteen is blessed with a family atmosphere, with a variety of delicacies, touched by a homemade flavour, cooked to perfection and served with great courtesy. Refreshments are available at the college canteen at affordable rates. Adequate seating facilities are provided to accommodate students and staff even during peak times.
