The School of Social Work, managed by the Institute of Social Service Mangalore of Karnataka State, was established in 1960 in Mangalore by the Society of Daughters of the Heart of Mary, an International Catholic Religious Society, founded in France in 1790 during the French Revolution. It is the pioneer Post Graduate Centre for Social Work Education in Karnataka, listed as a ‘Minority’ Institution. It believes in the dictum – “Small is Beautiful”. Residential AccommodationsThe two 'Homes within Bounds' on the college campus provide a friendly environment for both college students and other students (those not admitted to the college) from several Indian states as well as from abroad. It houses an outstanding array of books, papers, and other reference materials that are used not only by our students and staff, but also by alumni, former institutional employees, other academic scholars, and visitors. There are 37,481 books, 106 subscribed journals, and 14 electronic journals on our list. Rare books, certain journals, PhD theses, student dissertations, and thesis projects are all available in the library, as well as documentation files, seminar files, newspaper clippings files, and other resources.

Computer LabsThere are 25 computers in the computer laboratory. Students are taught basic programming skills, web design, accounting software, graphic design, and basic animation since 2005. Regular computer courses are also conducted for learners from outside the campus.
Medical Facilities
1. A first-aid kit is available in the college office.
2. A sofa cum bed (BA block) in a staff room is accessible where help is immediately offered.

Cafe/Mess FacilityThe college has a canteen which is sufficient to cater to the needs of the staff and students of the college. We ensure that quality food is available at the canteen at a reasonable price. Attempts are made to evaluate the services of the canteen and make the necessary changes to the extent possible. The canteen provides breakfast, snacks and lunch (vegetarian and non-vegetarian) and catering services at the time of programmes, meetings and seminars organized by the college. The Canteen committee of the college monitors its functioning.
