Sri Chitturi Indraiah Memorial Government Degree and Postgraduate College of today was established in Tanuku in 1968 with the untiring efforts of Sri Chitturi Venkateswara Rao.
The college has completed Forty-Four years of Yeoman service to the noble cause of educating the rural and urban girls and boys in and around Tanuku.In 2008, the college became a partner institution of the Indira Gandhi Open University(IGNOU) under the convergence scheme and launched a good number of Job-Oriented Certificate courses. Tanuku is an important town in the west Godavari District. It is located on the banks of the Gostani River.

The Central Library works for its readers with a concern for creativity and innovation, predecessors of Research and Development. It has a well-equipped library that accumulates over 10,000 volumes of selected books in various engineering, management, basic, and general science subjects.

It provides good quality fresh Snacks, cool drinks, coffee, tea, and other food items in a hygienic, healthy way which suits the pockets of the student. It is speckless and maintained very well.
