Selvamm Arts and Science College were established by the pioneer in the poultry industry and a philanthropist, Dr P.Selvaraj in 2000, under the auspices of V.Ponnusamy Educational and Charitable Trust, which was formed in the fond memory of his late father. The college is fully self-supporting and it has been founded to serve the youth of the predominantly agricultural, underprivileged and downtrodden families in the neighbourhood. Starting with 3 courses, 7 faculty members and an initial intake of 77 students in a temporary building on Trichy Road, the college was shifted to the present sprawling Selvam Campus

The College is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), NAAC and accredited by Periyar University, Salem.

Library:

The Central Library was started in the academic year 2000-2001 with 750 books. Every year more than 1500 books are added to Library. Our college is building up a well-equipped central Library accommodated in a two-tiered separate wing on the first floor of the art block. It has free internet, plagiarism checking, soft  & hard copies and more facilities. The Library has rich volumes with 23,563 text and reference books, 47 journals, 55 magazines, 3,471 projects / Theses and 1,456 e-resources (like CDs/DVDs …). More than 150 members visited our central Library per day.

Hostel:

The Selvamm Arts and Science College is a prestigious institution in our country, which provides accommodation to students wishing to reside in the hostels. Each hostel is an independent unit with respect to its internal administration under the overall supervision of the council of wardens and the hostel management. The hostels are located on the western side and adjacent to the college campus and have a separate hostel office and mess within the hostel premises. 

Sports:

Selvamm Arts & Science College, Namakkal is promoting sports to the national & international standard by giving free seats, free accommodation and free mess for the sports-involved students. Well-equipped Standard 400 Mts track with full infrastructure for all sports and games. Students are trained by specialized NIS Regular Diploma Coaches.

Transport:

College owns a fleet of 83 buses and these buses operate along nearly 50 routes in and around Namakkal, Salem and Erode Districts. Our transport facilities ensure that our students and staff are able to reach the college on time.

Training and Placement:

This dream is fulfilled through the full-fledged Training and Placement Cell of Selvamm Arts and Science College. The placement cell seeks the best career prospects for the budding graduates passing out from our College. The Placement cell identifies the need-based training of the industry from time to time and trains the students throughout the year, accordingly. It also organizes special activities through the Student Development Programmes (SDP) to enhance the skill-set of the students.
