It started as a private enterprise in 1966, and later it was taken over by Punjab Govt. on June 2, 1974. It would be pertinent to add that it is the only govt. co-educational college catering to the needs of students in the region. It started as a sapling and stands fully prepared today to meet the challenges of changing times.

Library and Book Bank:

The College Library named after Sikh Scholar Bhai Gurdas ji is a key learning resource integral to the teaching-learning Process. Managed by the Library team and the Library Committee, the library is one of the finest in the College. The library is a holistic space to further augment students' and faculty’s intellectual acumen. The library is well furnished with comfortable chairs and tables for students and teachers. The library is fully managed by KOHA (library automation software). It houses more than 20000 books and other important e-resources related to Science and Technology, Social Sciences, Arts and Humanities, Commerce, and Management. There is enough storage facility and a spacious well-lit reading room. Science, Computer Science, and Commerce Departments have their departmental Book Banks. Books are provided to needy, meritorious, and underprivileged students.

Auditorium:

The auditorium named Ranjit Hall after Maharaja Ranjit Singh King of Punjab is housed in the complex. It has the capacity to accommodate 500 students. It is the hub of all curricular and extracurricular activities with Audio Visual facilities that are used to conduct all cultural activities and competitions. The Cultural Committee is very proactive and encourages the students to take part in literary and artistic competitions/ events, both within the institution as well as outside it. The students have won many prizes in various competitions as a result of the encouragement and motivation provided by the institution.
