Shillong College was inaugurated on the 15th of August, 1956, and began with a few students at Jail Road Boys High School. Shri Sudhindra Chandra Datta, a Lecturer in the Department of Mathematics at St. Anthony’s College, became the founder Principal. Before the establishment of North Eastern Hill University in 1972, Shillong College was affiliated with Gauhati University. The birth, growth, and development of Shillong College is a cumulative result of the immense sacrifice, dedication, hard work, and perseverance of a good number of well-meaning selfless individuals as well as some prominent organizations of Shillong and also the region as a whole.

Library:

The Central Library is the “heart” of the learning community and with a collection of around 21 subjects, covers the needs of around 3,000+ students studying at 3 different faculties. In addition to serving the academic needs of college students and faculty, the library also has a large collection of reference works such as encyclopedias (general subjects), dictionaries, almanacs, yearbooks, census reports, printed books, bibliographies, biographies, textbooks, textbooks, and current sources, Northeast Collections and Electronic Resources. The Integrated Library Management System - KOHA was used in all library activities. A digital library was also developed to provide a digital platform for the management, preservation, and dissemination of the academic community's rich internal collection of intellectual output. The study room is located in a Wi-Fi-enabled building and provides an excellent learning environment.

Faculty:

Most teachers are well qualified and well trained, 35 to 50 years old. I think each teacher has a good understanding of the specific subject they are teaching us. They know what the students are learning and are very helpful by nature.

Placement:

College internships are great, even if only a few companies come, they constantly try to include new and different companies so that students can get variety and variety in the recruitment process.
