Shree Swaminarayan Ayurvedic College, Gandhinagar SSAC Established in the year 2016 in the lush green vibrant campus of Shree Swaminarayan Vishvamangal Gurukul Trust, Kalol with state-of-art teaching departments and an attached 60-bed hospital. Shastri Swami Premswaroopdasji, a follower of Bhakti and Seva is the prime founder of Shree Swaminarayan Vishvamangal Gurukul, Kalol. Swamiji Started his seva as a saint in the Swaminarayan Mandir located at Bhuj. Swamiji spent 20 years in Satsang at the place.

SSAC SOT Infrastructure and Facilities

SSAC Dravyaguna Lab

The Department of Dravyaguna is well-equipped with a Pharmacognosy laboratory. The Laboratory has the instruments and chemicals required for the pharmacognosy practicals. As per the norms 10 -15 practicals are formed in pharmacognosy for each batch. The Students are trained in taking transverse sections of various parts of the plant like root, stem, leaf and observing the characters under the microscope, and differentiating with the use of various stains. Thus the students are made familiar with the macroscopic and microscopic identity of plants.

SSAC Dissection Hall

The Dissection hall is well equipped with adequate infrastructure and has regular availability of cadavers each year with 15 dissection sets for 12 dissection tables and sufficient X-ray boxes to develop the skills of dissecting, and identifying the bones and organ structures of the body. It has ample informative material with 32 posters, 30 wet specimens, 30 models, and 3 disarticulated sets to study normal disposition, interrelationships, and gross, functional, and applied anatomy of the various structures in the body.

SSAC Pathology Lab

Pathology Lab is well equipped with all modern laboratory equipment and instruments to conduct various investigations. All blood tests, Urine tests, Sputum, Stool, and Semen investigations are being trained for the students by well-versed Faculties. The Lab practical teaching sessions are conducted in a Batch of 30 students each to enable them to get proper training and ensure that every student gets to participate in every single practice. The Lab serves as a place for students to get a practical approach to Pathology and acquire sound knowledge.

SSAC Physiology Lab

State-of-the-art Laboratory with high-quality instruments and equipment is established for the in-depth study of all Laboratory/ Clinical instruments. The Lab also conducts 11 Hematology experiments and gives hands-on training for all Clinical Examinations on patients including ECG examination. The Lab is established in adequate space to accommodate a batch of 30 students at a time. The students are trained to gain skills in conducting all Laboratory tests and Clinical examinations under expert Faculty.

SSAC Kaumarabhritya Museum

The Department of Kaumarbhritya Museum is very well furnished with various models, instruments & commonly used medicines in the practice of Kaumarabhritya. All the educational models assembled are for the demonstration of practical aspects of topics learned in Kaumarbhritya theory contact hours. Some of them are “Trichakra Phakka ratha” (Wooden walker for assisted walking in children), “Dhatri Pareeksha” (Characteristics of a Wet nurse), “Danta Vaividhya –Kumar & Kumari” (Different characteristics of dentition in male & female children), etc. Equipments, Instruments & drugs required for Navajata Shishu Pranapratyagamana (Neonatal resuscitation) are also displayed in the museum for practical demonstration to students.

SSAC Rasa Shastra Museum

The Museum of Rasashastra and bhaishajya Kalpana has 30 Dry  Raw material samples(Kashtoushdhi), 35 Mineral Raw Materials (Rasoushdhi) samples, and 40 prepared samples. There are 20 crucibles (Musha), and 10 Mortar Pestle (Khalwa) for display in the museum. The department motivates and gives hands-on training to students to prepare Models of different classical equipment and instruments. Batch 2017-18 has prepared 6 Models and Batch 2018-19 has prepared a Model of Ideal Rasashala (Ayurvedic Pharmacy).

SSAC Teaching Pharmacy

Teaching Pharmacy is a part of the Department of Rasashastara and Bhaishajya Kalpana, which enables students to learn the concept of Large Scale Manufacturing. The Pharmacy also prepares medicine for the Hospital as per the requirement. Different dosage forms like  Churna,  Vati,  Guggulu, Asava-arista,  Sneha  Kalp,  Kshar and  Lavana,  Lauh,  Avaleha,  Kupipakva  Rasayana are prepared regularly. 

SSAC Quality Control Lab

Quality Control Lab has all the facilities required for testing Ayurvedic Drugs manufactured in Teaching Pharmacy. The Lab is equipped with state-of-the-art scientific equipment like HPTLC, Colorimeter, Spectrophotometer, Friability tester, Hardness Tester, Muffle furnace, etc. The QC Lab has undertaken a Quality analysis of around 40 Finished products and many raw materials.

SSAC Dravyaguna Museum

The Museum of Dravyaguna has 167 dry samples, and 20 live specimens which are labeled with all the required details. There are 40 herbarium sheets for display in the museum, which helps the students to get an idea about making herbariums and also helps in identifying them. There are 51 charts and posters in the museum related to various concepts of Dravyaguna. The museum has models related to the Basics of Botany, like parts of leaves, Flower which makes the learning process easy.

SSAC Agada Tantra Museum

Agada tantra encompasses the entire topic of toxicology which includes signs symptoms and management of poisoning resulting from various animal bites like snakes, scorpions, spiders, and other poisonous combinations. Agada tantra museum gives the details of poisonous substances as well as antidotes to poison. It is a well-established museum with different types of specimens and instruments with   32 weapons, 20 Dry poisonous drug specimens, 15 Anti-dotes, 13 Metallic and Non-metallic Poisons, 10 wet Drug Specimens, 13 Household poisons, 5 Bone Specimens, and many Alkalis and Acids, 13 Models, 30 Informative Charts.
