Shri Chinai College of Commerce & Economics, Mumbai is a primeval college, it was established in the year 1963. The College was formerly set up by the Laxmi Education Society and was managed with grace till 2006-2007. Later from 2007-2008, it was taken over by Laxmi Charitable Trust which was set up in memory of Shri Mathuradas Vissanji, Sheth LaherchandUttamchand Jhaveri, and Shri Jivanlal Chinai by their descendant Shri Pratap SinghVissanji, Shri Pratap Bhogilal and Shri Rasiklal Chinai.

Funds for maintenance are allocated and maintenance works are executed through AMC (Annual Maintenance Contract) for laboratory and library equipment and CCTV. The support staff looks after the cleanliness and maintenance of the college campus. Adequate infrastructure has been provided for students to take part in extracurricular activities. The institution has facilities for indoor and outdoor games. Also, space is available for indoor games. The college has made provision for a gymkhana to encourage physical fitness. Gymkhana Instruments are available for exercise and warm-up for sports students.

Library:

The library is partly automated with Sole 2.0 Library software. The maintenance of the software is done by our internal staff. With regular upgradation in the version of the software. The maintenance of Library Learning resources is done as and when required. Regular binding and lamination of rare books are done. The maintenance of racks and cupboard are done at regular intervals.

Computer Lab:

The maintenance of computers is managed by the college's internal staff for maintaining the computers, Printers, and LCD. The maintenance of carpenter work and electrical work is done by the contractor appointed by the managing committee as and when required.
