Amravati city, a regional headquarter of the Amravati Division of Maharashtra state, is well known as an educational hub in the region, together with its social, spiritual, historical, and political advancements. Historical landmarks such as the Amba Devi Temple, ‘Koundinyapur’ a place from where Lord Krishna eloped with Rukhmini from the venue of the wedding ceremony, and Chikhaldara a lush green invigorating hill station in the Satpura valley. As a recognition of the dissemination of Gadge Baba's message of cleanliness and eradication of superstition, the Amravati University, to which our college is affiliated, was renamed “Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University, Amravati”. The Shri Shivaji Education Society, Amravati, was founded in 1932, by the Late Dr. Punjabrao Deshmukh, a leader of the peasants, the First Agriculture Minister of Independent India, and a Member of the “Constitution Draft Committee” for the Govt. of India. It is one of the premier institutions of higher education in Central India. It is worth mentioning that, under its canopy, there are in all 289 institutions including Medical, Agriculture, Engineering, Science, Law, and Education as well as Higher Secondary Schools, High Schools, Middle Schools, and Primary Schools. Girls Hostel:

The college provides for girls’ hostel has a warden residential block and a safe drinking water cooler too. Security: 24-hour private security for the girls’ hostel and one separate security staff room. 70 Girl students capacity with reasonable charges.

Medical/Hospital:

The college has medical facilities available at the medical college run by the parent society which is within walking distance. As per need, special facilities are made available for differently-abled students. Off-campus, healthcare facilities are available in the medical college run by our society. The institution does not have a separate facility. However, there is a medical college and hospital run by our parent society where our faculty members and students are given medical facilities. The Panjabrao Deshmukh Medical College, Amravati, is situated at walking distance from the college. A First Aid box is provided in the Girls’ hostel. In case of an emergency, the Medical College run by the parent society is within walking distance, the medical assistance is available. Doctors are made available by the parent society for providing such a facility.

Library:

The college has a library the college has a good collection of 20851 textbooks, 869 reference books, 109 e-books, 46 subscribed journals, and 6551 other books on various subjects. The amount spent on procuring the books & journals during the last five years is Rs. 21,71,796/-. The institution has made provision for a DELNET/INFLIBNET facility. The library is fully computerized with the application of bar-code technology. The students have access through OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue) and Eportal developed for providing User Education and Information Literacy. Internet facility is available at the Network Resource Centre situated in the library. The Library has built the Institutional Repository using Greenstone Open Source Digital Library. The college has a very good infrastructure which includes spacious classrooms, modern, well-equipped laboratories & excellent sports facilities, campus networking, broadband connectivity and a very well set up library. Shri Shivaji Science College Library is a fully computerized competent library with SOUL software, OPAC, and Circulation Module. The library is a matter of pride for this College. Carefully selected volumes of various subjects are on the stacks of the College library. The College library also subscribes to reputed professional Art Journals and Periodicals. The library is continuously updated. The Reading Room facility provided to the students is excellent. The college has a rich library providing adequate facilities to the staff and students. The library subscriptions include well-known art journals and periodicals. Valuable books recommended by experts on the subjects are regularly acquired by the library. The library functions on an open-access system for faculty members and research scholars. But the students have only limited access. The library remains open from morning till evening on all working days.

Sports:

The college provides all possible sports and games facilities to the students and conducts University Level Sports and Games competitions. The college has organized Shivaji Olympiad sponsored by the parent education society. Recently the college has developed a basketball court with floodlights. The Indoor Games Table Tennis Badminton Chess Yoga Outdoor GamesThe following sports facilities is being developed on the additional land (5 acres) behind the library building, given by the parent management. I.T Infrastructure:

The college has Well-equipped computer laboratories with educational software & CDs. Computers, scanners, printers, cameras, etc, for students. 14 computers with internet connectivity. The college has to learn resources in the form of 186 computers with internet facility, 12 LCDs, 8 OHPs, 5 slide projectors, 14 scanners, and 55 printers, in the various departments • ICT culture in the campus with 186 computers and broadband connectivity.

Swimming Pool:

The college as a parent society has provided the swimming pool facilities to the students of the college on a monthly membership basis at subsidized charges. swimming pool facilities at concessional rates at the parent society’s swimming pool.

Convenience Store:

The college runs a Co-operative Store under the supervision of Dr. P. R. Padole, Dept. of Chemistry. Through the Co-operative Store, the stationery needs of students and the college office will be met. Purchasing practical record books from the cooperative stores is compulsory. College uniform is also available in the store. The store also provides Xerox facilities for all. Each student should become a nominal member of the cooperative stores on payment of the prescribed fee.

Parking Facility:

The college has a separate vehicle parking facility for students. Students should enter the college only by a new gate and they should park their vehicles at the backside of the college. failing which they will be penalized. The newly constructed cycle Stand in front of the Girls’ Hostel is exclusively for girl students.
