Sibsagar College of Commerce  was established on  30th  June 1969. It was placed under Deficit Grant Scheme on 01.12.1975 by the W.E.F. Government of Assam. The college has its own distinctive position  in the field of higher education in Upper Assam. 

Accreditation and Ranking 

Sibsagar Commerce College is affiliated to Dibrugarh University. The college is accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). 

Courses available 

Sibsagar College of Commerce offers programs  at various levels such as Bachelor's, viz. Bachelor of Computer Application (BCA) etc., Post Graduate Degree ie. Accommodation: 

The institute provides accommodation for its students. There are separate hostels for both girls and boys. Girls Hostel: There are two girls hostels in the campus. There are 20 places in the old hostel  and 25 places in the new hostel. The hostel has a spacious area for students  with bed, table, chair, steel cabinet and sanitary  machine. There is a separate meeting room where the caretaker can show his concerns to his residents. Female chefs appointed by the university work in Sotku. The hostel offers purified drinking water and rainwater. The hostel committee organizes counseling and independent performance development trainings for its students. The residents of the hostel  are strictly controlled by the warden and the hostel committee.  

Library 

The Central Library of Sibsagar College of Commerce  was established in 1969, during the establishment of the college. The Central Library is located behind  Bagri Bhavan of the college. The library has well stocked collections and a good selection. Currently, the university library has 25,000 texts and reference items that cover a wide range The library subscribes to 11 magazines, 8 periodicals and 6 daily newspapers and 1 weekly newspaper. It also has a good collection of encyclopedias and dictionaries. 

Canteen 

The new cafeteria in the college is effectively operational from 2022. Food quality, food hygiene and safety are taken care of while serving hostel residents, day students, teaching and non-teaching staff. The university canteen has filtered water that is available to every student and other officials and teaching staff. The students' common dining room can accommodate almost 50 students and various dining areas for the teacher and other staff. The canteen menu  is approved by the administrative office  and the chef is appointed by the university. On special occasions, the canteen organizes a special menu upon request.  

Medical 

The college has a well-equipped medical cell. The medical cell considers health, sanitation and hygiene very important. The college has medical/first aid kits in the college premises and in each hostel. In urgent cases, the student is sent to the nearest hospital together with one member of the medical committee. There is a free health check in the university office, where reputable local  doctors are invited to do a general health check for  students. Blood donation camps are also organized by the Medical cell. Rapid Antigen Teat (RAT) was provided by the college at free of cost to the students.

Computer Laboratory

The Computer Laboratory is well equipped with the latest technology. The college has two Computer laboratories with modern amenities having a total of 69 computers with internet/Wi-Fi facilities. There is also one digital design lab with Logical Gates and circuits that is accessible to the students as per their allotted class hours. The Computer Lab includes latest software , hardware and networking LAN facility with high speed fiber optics connections. It provides various resources of IT, computer technologies and other reading resources that are accessible to all the students and teaching staff for learning purpose.

Sports

The Sports Committee of Sibsagar Commerce College strives to bring students together and build active sports environment. The Committee aspires every individual to inculcate sportsmanship, team spirit and bonding. The college encourages the student’s community in competitive sports and other recreational activities. The students have participated in various national tournaments organized by recognized clubs of the country, inter-colleges, inter-district, inter-state, college and National competitions and have secured distinguished positions.

The students of Sibsagar Commerce College has brought consecutive glory to the college by securing gold, silver and bronze medal in various inter-college completion. The college is well equipped with indoor stadium and outdoor field where students are encouraged to plan and organize various competitions in the sports like cricket, football, table tennis, volleyball, badminton etc… The college sports committee ensures to conduct smooth functioning of the sports events and maintain record of students who participate in various tournaments organized within college, inter- colleges, inter-districts, inter-state colleges.
