Sivanthi Aditanar College, Pillayarpuram has been a coeducational self-financing college that was established on the 12th of July 1984. The college is run through the Thenkumari Educational Society, an association of temple trusts, as well as people belonging to the Hindu Nadar Community of Kanniyakumari District as shareholders. The college is located on an enormous evergreen, non-pollution-free campus located in Pillayarpuram village is located 5 km from Nagercoil town, which is located on The Sanguthurai Beach Road.

The idea of starting the institute was conceived from the thoughts of Prof.S.Thanumalai and Prof.R.AndiNadar. They discussed their ideas with prominent people in society, and the Founder Committee was formed in 1982. Thiru.P.ThanulingaNadar Ex.M.P., played an important role as Co-ordinator of the activities of the founder committee. He encouraged the members to complete the preliminary work needed in preparation for the establishment of the College.
