To provide quality education to all the people, Cheran Foundation Trust was established in the year 1991 to serve the community of Perur village in Coimbatore district and Kangeyam taluk in Tirupur. To cherish the motive of the trust, SMS College of Arts and Science was established in the year 2000 at Perur, Coimbatore affiliated with Bharathiar University, Coimbatore. Coimbatore city, the industrial center of South India, famously called the Manchester of South India, where a wide range and variety of goods production is recorded, prompted the need for the inception of B.Com and BBA programs at SMSCAS in July 2000, for the learning community to understand about the prevailing professional link between consumers and producers.

Infrastructure and Facilities

Good infrastructural facilities are the foundation upon which a college may carry out its functions fruitfully. Our SMSCAS facilities employ the most recent technologies to ensure the comfort and well-being of students and also provide them with ways to be physically and mentally engaged. It also gives them a good platform to interact with their peers, teachers, and important members of society so that they may learn more and grow more.

Transport:

The College is only 10 km away from the heart of the city and city buses are available every 5 minutes. The bus stop is just before the college campus and the Railway station is just 6km away from the college. Based on the requirement, the Cheran college bus is available for transportation of students, faculty, and staff members.

The students are picked up and dropped in common boarding points decided by the college authorities. Students should wear their identity cards before entering the buses.

Sports Facilities:

Sports and physical education are an integral part of the curriculum at SMSCAS. Our sports infrastructure enables and supports students to excel in the sport of their choice. Games and sports pave way for the evolvement of mentally balanced youth with team spirit and sound emotional health. Under the qualified guidance and supervision, of the best Physical Training Instructor, our students have been actively participating in various district, state, and national level competitions where they have won numerous awards. This ensures that the youthful energy and creative potential of our students are effectively channelized.

Hostel:

The Cheran Foundation Trust (CFT) provides separate hostel facilities at SMSCAS for nearly 88 girls shared by 3 and 55 boys shared by 3. Our CFT Hostel is a safe space where we strive to provide our students with the comforts of home and the experience of residing within college culture. The Hostel is equipped with facilities that ensure that our students’ needs are adequately met. Moreover, spearheaded by our empathetic wardens, we consider everyone’s interests and offer students ample freedom. Separate hostel facilities are provided for Boys and Girls on the college campus. It has adequate high security and good discipline. The students who are not staying with their parents shall reside in the college hostel as per college rules.
