The university was founded on July 20, 1960, as part of the arduous task of educating teachers from the weaker strata of society. The school is located in Moothakunnam on the banks of the mighty Periyar River, near the famous Sankaranarayana Temple. As the college is located next to NH 17 and only 4km from Kodungallur, the very famous ancient port city of Musiris is easily accessible by road. The nearest train station is Irinjalakuda, 15 km away. The calm and cheerful atmosphere is conducive to intellectual activity. 

In August 2005 the new T.T.I. started with 50 students. In the same academic year, i.e. in December, our college began postgraduate studies in Pedagogy M.Ed with a group of 25 students. The college has established a tradition of its own regarding the decency and propriety of its student teachers.

The institution's library subscribes to about 12 journals and periodicals, including national, English-language, and international periodicals. An additional 66 books were added to the library in the last quarter of the 2020-21 Section.

Periodical Section: 

You cannot remove journals from the library. You can read them in the library room, where the library is still open. readers were asked to enter their names and the contact details of the journals they consulted in the journal register. Readers must correctly load the magazines into the magazine holder before exiting the magazine.
